Sorry I tried searching but couldnt find much. I would really like to put a welded steering rack in my car. I've heard that it improves straight line stability. Does anyone know of someone who has tried this? Thanks in advance.

 

 

duuuuuude, this is a mad tyte mod. I have a few drag race buddies who do this in their cars and it's awesome!

I know this affects street driving a little bit but it's SO worth it.

Well, I detect the sarcasm, but I had never heard of this mod, so I googled:

Makes no sense to me with EPS, if it ever makes sense.

 

The EPS our 8 uses runs off a map in the ECU. Technically, adjusting that map should enable you to adjust the steering feel.

That being said, I don't know of anyone who is willing to touch it.

Seems to me that unplugging the rack achieves the same thing as the mod mentioned on miata.net.

 

Pearl, it's gonna hurt your drifting though. I'd stay away.

In order to countersteer, I'd re-run the linkage to the rear wheels.

I guess I would need to move the drivetrain to power the front wheels. Anyone try mounting the Renesis in the trunk?

OK. So, I welded the knuckles and, while I was at it, I welded the spindles to the wheels.
So, now I get these awesome tire tracks everywhere I go.
Which, for the moment, is just up and down my driveway 'cuz I still cant turn...
