Volks CE28s or SF Challenge???

Heylo guys, need your input in this one.... I'm looking to get a set of either Volks Racing CE28s or SF Challenge and I have a titianium grey... which ones would you think look better? Bronze CE28s or Mercury Silver SF Challenges? Anyone have either of these wheels on their titianium greys? Mind if you post them or send them to me? =)
And does anyone know if either of them are heavier (the SF Challenges LOOK heavier..)?

Thanks guys!!!

I don't have either wheels (I'm broke). However, I suggest the CE28N's. I haven't really seen them on an RX-8, but it's different. Being different rules.

Tough choice man! I love them both. Why not get both of them.

Personally I think CE28N is for me. More Asian look to it. Challenge is more euro style....?! *can I say that?

Me, CE28N. It's light and cheaper than SF Challenge. I wanted to buy CE28N silver, but it was matt finished. The shop guy said it's difficult clean up the brake dust. I heard that Volk released polished silver and 19" as well. Show me when you got new shoes.

Thanks for the input guys!! Yea I think the CEs are a bit more toned down and gives it more of a "sleeper" look? So I'm going to go with the CEs today =)
They say it's gonna take about 30 business days to come in.... will post pics when I get them =)

Careful... the sizing on the CE28s is a tough match. When I bought my set, they didnt have anything over +40 offset in 18x8 or higher. I was rolling on LE28s 18x8.5 +40 and it will rub if you take a corner hard. They now make a 18x8.5 +50 in CE28s, which will fit perfectly, and not increase your scrub radius too much and funk up your handling. I ended up getting TE37s because of that, but I loved the ce28s.

FYI-with the TE37s in 18x8.5 +50 it handles awesome.

ooo.... geez I hope it works.... I ordered 18x8" +38 offset all around 4 wheels??? I'm going with the stock tire size.. what size tires did you try the LE28s with? well I hope the -0.5 inch width in size I chose will makeup for the lower offset?? or maybe I will have to go with a lower profile tire?
I saw the CE28s in +44 offset on ray's japanese website but I decided to go 38 cause I wanted it to stand a bit wider and I heard ppl say +35 to +55 offsets are fine for the 8??
what kinda handling negatives are there for widening the stance other than turning radius??

According to the Rays web site's fitting table, 18/8.0 and 38 off set may fit all right with the stock tires. But you better low down with the after market spring and it may help getting some clearance with fenders, because low down will make more camber angle. The stock springs and shocks may cause interference with the body.

I just got their new flyer from Mackin, and it shows the new size. The problem I had with the wider stance, was that turn in suffered considerably. I like to really DRIVE my car though, so it may not be an issue for you.

Oh and to the person asking what size tires, it rubbed with both the stock tires, and 245/45/18 Potenza S-03s

so I SHOULD lower my car to avoid clearance probs?? I thoguth lowering it gives less clearance??
and so if a tire rubs, what is there I can do?? how can I modify the fenders (would it look ugly?)?

should I cancel my order right now???

What are the stock sizes?

i.e. 18 x 8 or 8.5? What is the offset of the stock rim?

The stock size is 18x8" and +50 offset I believe
so basically I move the tires 12mm outwards? would that be too much?

That makes sense since the stock offset on my FD wheels are also 50.

So, what is the advantage, if any, to getting an 8.5 rim instead of 8.0? Can you fit a wider tire on the 8.5? If so, how much wider?

And am I correct in saying that having an 8.5 vs. 8.0 will not make a difference in the offset? In other words, if the offset is 50 on the 8.5 rim, and 50 on the 8.0, there are no other considerations regarding clearance since the offset is still the same. Is that correct?

It's in Japanese site. Refer to this,

http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/...8N&inchIndex=4

Hope you can read it. Feel better? Now, keep your fingers crossed and wait. I don't guarantee the result though...

If the tire still rubbs, you just need some body work inside of the fender. That doesn't affect the appearance if done by good jobber. You see "LI" or "U" section on top of the wheel arch, and make it "V" to get clearance. They did it normaly when they want to put wider rims and tires.

I don't know the advantage of getting wider rims and tires, but my understanding for the calculation are as follows, if the stock width 8.0 and offset 50,

8.5width make (8.5-8.0)x1/2 inch stick out(1/4inch for inside as well), and
38offset will make (50-38)mm stick out.

Totaly abt.1/4inch +12mm stick out from the stock. Hope I am right.

^ Yes, that definitely makes sense from a logical standpoint, so I hope you are right too!
