When changing the TPMS did you have to apply silicone or new gaskets. Asking cause im going to be going swapping mine soon.

it is recommended by siemens to get a rebuild kit that has a new core, gaskets, and i believe some other parts. of course this is just a recommendation by the company that makes them and probably has most to do with keeping the gaskets as new as possible. the rebuild kit can be had for around $10/each from what i have found.

check the tirerack.com site for installers in your area. call the ones that say they do TPMS and ask if they have it. you may have to explain that it comes with the cores and gaskets since everyone calls it something different.

Just a question.

I have a JDM8 without TPMS.
If I buy a set and install it will it work as US models or its only for US models?

Hi Andreas.

The short answer is "NO".

The longer answer is that I looked into this when I got my 8 (Canadian cars prior to '08 (?) didn't have TPMS).

The TPM sensors on the wheels are in radio contact with a TPMS module behind the glovebox. This module is activated / communicates with the rest of the car via the Car's CANBUS network.

If you installed the sensors and the module, AND got a US Flash for the car's computer (apparently NOT the same as a 'tuning' flash), I was told by the dealer's Svc. manager that it "might" work - as the wiring is all in place for the module to plug in.

I was also told that they could not get me a US flash... and that I would be voiding my warranty if I tried to have it done at an US dealer and something went wrong...

So, basically, I gave up & went with an aftermarket TPMS.

I would still love to hear if anyone in the world has successfully got this to work. (Note that I have not revisited this since the summer of 2007, so things might have changed)

Yes, but be aware that you could face some leakage issues, especially if not getting the newer gaskets. I have some leakage issues on my aftermarket rims(the passthrough holes were slightly bigger) and took awhile to get it all squared away. There's a thread on it somewhere, but it contains no pics, just drawings of what my issue was and how I solved it.
