Tokico D-Spec

I'm going to be picking up a new set of Tokico's for my racing effort. First any suggestions on who to go through in buying them, I'd like to keep it somewhat close to Cleveland, but if not, that's fine.

Next, any special tricks I should know about before I put the new ones on?

Thanks!

I bought my from e-bay. Great price. I haven't installed them yet.

I got mine from Mazdatrix and had a local speed shop install them. The local shop was adamant about giving them a week to settle in before messing with the adjustments. Make sure you get the extensions for the rear shocks so you can adjust them from inside the trunk. For around town driving I use Full Stiff -5 turns for the front, and -6 for the back.

Yeah, if you're gonna buy springs, do them both at the same time. I kept the OE springs so I'd still be able to autocross in B-Stock (can change shocks, but not springs).

Thanks for the input. I wish I could run with different springs... but the rules dictate otherwise in Touring 3... as I have to run stock springs... shocks are clear though... same as B Stock.

Yeah, my own goofy notation is Full Stiff (minus) #turns. So full soft = Full Stiff - 7.5

I use Full Stiff - 6 for around-town driving. Any softer than that and they get a little too "bouncy" for my tastes.

I have another Autox (maybe 2) this weekend, so I'll get to play with the settings a little more.

Swoope, what issues have you had with the adjustor screw? Did you spin them too far out, or did they break on you?

I want to avoid any issues. I only adjust mine when I go to the track, but I'm careful never to turn them more than 5-6 turns out. I'm always between -1 (track) and -5/-4 (road).

I've had mine all the way out to 7.5 with no real probs. Of course I didn't turn them really hard or anything. I only change them for track/autox too.

One small problem I had was with the front. Anything past -6 and I have to loosen my OE shock tower brace to get the tool in and out.

I think swoope means be careful when installing the rear shocks with the adjuster cables on them. Some people have pulled the adjuster extension apart by letting the shock hang on the adjuster extension. I didn't have any issues, but I could see what could happen.
