tires for manual transmision 2006 RX8 Shinka
My manual transmision 2006 RX8 Shinka will be ready for new tires soon.
It has Dunlop SP Sport 8090 225-45-18's.
I like the tires.
I have taken the car out to the track and am happy with the performance of these tires but have nothing to compare it to since this was my first time at the track.
I've been pricing the tires and they are arround $230 a piece.
Any recommendations on where to buy these tires at a good price?
Any recommendations for other tire brand and models that would perform as well or better for a better price?
Thanks

The 8090 is an OK street/performance tire.
If you're interested in tracking the car more often, you might want to look for something closer to the 200 UTQG treadwear standard. Something like a Dunlop Z1 Star Spec, Kumho XS, Bridgestone RE-01r, Falken RT-615, Hankook RS2 Z212, etc. etc.
A more street oriented tire which can withstand a track day every once in a while would be in the 280-300 treadwear zone. I've been using Sumitomo HTZ III as my street tire for a few months now and I'm very pleased with it. It's a 300 treadwear tire, but is very comparable to the Dunlop 8090 which is a 280 treadwear tire. Yokohama S.Drive would be similar as well.

BridgeStone S03s showed a marked improvement over the tires that came with my 2005 Grand Touring. Then again, I got the car 24k miles in and the tread was pretty worn. I still run the S03s, daily driver.

i wanted the Toyo T1-R but it was out of my budget...
so i just got 4 brand new toyo proxes4 for $1000CANADIAN
but that also included mounting and balancing.
they are the best tires ive had on my 8 so far
and the price was good compared to the other tires up here...
