Tire Sizes

Quick question on tire sizes:

The stock tire size is 225/45-18. Can the stock wheels take 255/40-18, and if so, does it benefit handling any?

From what I've read, it should be possible to fit 255/40 but you may not notice an overall improvement over 245/40 as you'll get more sidewall flex with the wider tires.

I have 255/40/18's in the rear with Racing Beat lowering springs(about 1/2 inch) and I have some very slight rubbing going on when hitting some bumps. I will have to slightly roll my fenders. Just and FYI and mine is an 05 Ti-gray as well.

I would use 245/40, 255 is gonna throw off your overall ratio and you won't gain anything in terms of grip for the street. I have a hard time breaking my 255 potenzas loose on the street and I autocross on 255 RA1 race tires.
