Tire Size Question. ASAP

Hello Rotarians,

Looking into getting some new tires, for my 8. Need suggestions on what size I should put for both front and back. I have 18 inch Tenzos, and about .5 inches lowered and I want that aggressive look. What is the max on height, width etc... I can go with. Thanks!

Rim width and offset. Those are the key numbers needed.

dude I thought you were a true rx8 racer! you should know these things!

Yes we need to know the width and offset of your wheel in order to help you pick a aggressive tire size.

Your friend should know what they are so contact him.

atruerx8ricer: you don't want to go any taller or shorter or your speedo will be off. Too much and it could effect traction control. But, without wheel specs, it's a shot in the dark on what to size to tell you. a 245/40/18 will look meaty on an 8" wheel and a little stretched on a 9" wheel. there should be a sticker or stamp on the back side of the wheels or on the barrels that show the specs of the wheel.

Tires won't really be what makes the car look aggressive though, Ride hight and wheel offset are the two main components to this. With the body kit, it would look more aggressive if it were lower.

In case you didn't notice, you need to provide the width and information others are asking. Just as a point of reference, I'm running 245 40 18 on my 7.5 wheel. This is what it looks like.

+1 ^^

Take a tape measure. Measure your wheel height and width. Then take into consideration where you live. Do you get a lot of rain or snow? Wider tires make for better hydroplaining lol. Also consider do you want to give up handling. If you go with the largest you can fit on the rear, you wont be able to use that tire size on the front due to rubbing and interfernace. IF you have a different size tire on the rear of the vehicle than the front your handling and performance will degrade, I know this from personal experience in other vehicles. You will also decalibrate the speedo. The traction control module either wont work right or will burn out.

just go with 245/40 18 michelin sport a/s plus if you have a 18 by 8 inch wheel.

Figure out your sizes, then try looking through this thread. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/will-fit-thread-133500/ Almost all sizes and set ups have been discussed in there and you can always add more to it without getting flamed too bad.
