Hi, i have the 18" bridgestone potenza re960. i was wondering if the standard Front crossed and rear straight foward be ok for these wheels, or should is use the Rear to front and front to rear pattern. which il have to have the place where i bought m y tires from to do.

what are your thoughts. thanks

 

Modern radial tires have one rotational direction. It is embossed on the tire so you can easily see. If this is the case with your tires, you should only ever rotate front-to-back/back-to-front. If you change sides, you have to remount the tire on the rim backwards so the rotational direction stays the same.

 

cool man, thanks for the info. i should of looked at my tires to see which way the arrows are pointing. i guess one of those you while your in the office, that you start to think of stuff you must do this weekend. and tire rotate came to mind lol. btw thanks again jethro /bow

 

Remember, if you have 2 sets of rims/tires (as I do), you need to mark each one so you always get them back on the correct side and keep them together as pairs. I've engraved the inside of each rim, in small print, where each one goes. I note not only side, but give each one a letter designation, so I don't mix up front & rear pairs. That way they stay together and wear is more evenly distributed.

For example, 1RF (set 1, right side, front) or 2LR (set 2, left side, rear).

Different tires on each rim set makes it easier to identify, so you can drop the 1/2 and only go with side and front/rear designation.

 

front-rear swapping on the same side is plenty imo, the cost of 'flipping' directional tires to opposite sides isn't worth it imo.

unless you have access to a shop or someone let you use the tire/balance machine thaen I think it is worth it
