I'm sort of in the same boat - looking to replace my Dunlop Direzza Z1's after only a couple of season's driving. I love the Dunlop's, they work beautifully in the wet or dry, but the wear rating is only 200 and my car is a daily driver with really no track use so I don't need the stunning grip they provide.
I was looking at the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 as a replacement. Lots of great reviews on it, has a 280 wear rating, and only $132 each at Tire Rack in the 225/45/18 stock size (I think the Dunlops would have run me closer to $165 each to replace).
