Tein S techs different drop heights in two front wheels
So i think my passenger side has fully dropped now, it looks real nice, however i just measured the difference because i was sure the driveer side looked a bit off, and i measured from the out skirt of the wheel to the start of the fender. The passenger side is 3.5 inches and the drivers side is 4 inches, so a .5 inch difference.
My question is how to resolve this so they are both the same? thanks |
did you preload the springs?
|
did you drop it with the a-arms bolts loose?
|
Nah we didnt do that. You think if i loosen it, it will fix it?
|
Well according to everything i read on the forum..
When you have everything installed, the a-arm is suppose to be loosened.. then lower the car so it puts load on them.. Then turn the wheel one way full lock and tighten the bolt that you can reach.. turn the wheel the otherway and tighten the otherside of the bolt.. Head to the otherside of the car and repeat the process. |
could be due to your accident? suspension dmg?
|
hmm... i say try to preload it. it won't hurt.
if that doesn't work then there is something wrong. if there is any difference in height, it shouldn't be 0.5 inch. how's the rear Don? |
I havent actually looked at the rear. I'll have a look at that. Yeah Jedi thats what i'm worried about. I think its weird that its the drivers side too. I'm going to pre load and see what happens
|
You guys said load
|
loosen the a arm bolts. drive it around the block.. if you have speed bumps, bonus. tighten up bolts. it will also take a coupe of days for new springs to settle.
beers  |
yeah i looked earlier the right side of the car is lower then the left, which is the side i hit the curb with. Which now worries me, but if there was something wrong with the suspension wouldnt it affect the allignment?
im gonna loosen the bolts tomorrow |
My S-tech's look like they have settled on the driver side but the passenger is about .5 inch higher.
|
My S-techs are just settling after about a week (200 miles roughly). I had the same issue but it's pretty much gone now (maybe 2-3mm difference in drop side to side now). I did LOAD the suspension when putting things back together.
|
oh well thats good to know that you guys have the same issue. This is why i want coilovers..... the ones i want are real expensive tho
|
|
haha, I just reread that thread dills: aaahhhh, if only ProjectSE3P were here today to see the error in his ways. :)
|
OK, Fill up your tank, loosen your A-arms, Put two of your heaver friends in on the passenger front and rear seats and your lighter two friends on the drivers side.
Now Preload your springs:lol2: |
^ Yep preload.
Also you need to measure the frame height from a flat surface. Only true surface to use is a lift. |
i pre loaded :)
me and my friend did it today, very nice results. i am just about to post a load of pics in the multimedia gallery. My friend had say a 3 finger gap before pre loading and after he had a 1 finger gap, you gotta love that and my technical work. Mine is now equal :) |
Your welcome :)
|
Quick question(s) to those who have already installed (sorry to hijack)
is there a bump stop for each spring? how much needs to be cut off each one? in one thread i read someone cut off 3-4 inches.. then another i read only 1 inch.. Help Please. |

thnaks jedi, for your patience in helping too
|
Is there anyway to "preload" the rear? I've seen many different pics with S-Techs and mine appear to ride higher than most (but not all).
|
Wow, I hate to say it, but "We told you so." ;) Glad you're finally dropped the correct amount. Now be carefull on those steep driveways... angles are your friend.
