StopTech big brake kit installed

Just thought I'd log in real quick and let every one know. Just got home from work, it's 2:55 am, and I am tired. Our StopTech brake kit came in yesterday and we installed them today. The rotors are 2 piece 355 x 32mm slotted. The calipers are 4 piston calipers Red anodized and come with AXXIS Ultimate pads, Stainless Steel front brake lines, and brakets and hardware. Fit ment was quite easy. Bleading the lines takes some time. Haven't bedded them in yet, we spent the whole night prepping the cars for photoshoots for Turbo Mag and Modified Mag thurs, fri, and the following monday. I will post some pics tomorrow and have a write up soon. Good night to you.

Sweet! You'll have to let us know what you think of them after you have had a chance to run the car on the track.

Yep, they only offer a front kit as of right now. They don't have any plans to offer an upgraded caliper for the rear. The R&D department says that after they tested the car they found the balance of the car to be perfect and that it only needs a front kit for most applications. I'll keep you guys posted how the progress goes and I'll be putting them to use in a road race event next week.

I'm sure we'll be out there for HIN in march. Won't be able to post pics today as we are down to the wire getting the cars ready. I should be able to get some posted by tomorrow.

If you really wanted larger brakes in the rear, would it be feasible to transfer your old fronts to the rear? Yes the balance is perfect as you say and there isn't much reason, but would this be possible? I would think it a much more cost effective solution than buying a seperate set of rears later on.

Hmmm. That's funny, when I click on this thread it doesn't show the replies though the previous page shows that there are more than 10.

Really that's not a bad idea, though it's not possibile on the 6spd unless we fabricate a bracket to reset the caliper to work with the larger diamiter of the front rotor. However now you got me thinking about this so tomorrow I'll inspect the front calipers again and check it out. Mabey the whole unit will swap over. Hmmm... thanks for the idea. I'll get back to you on that.

I know several people who have looked at the front-to-rear swap in other cars. The one thing that always messes it up is that there is no provision for the parking/emergency brake on the front calipers. And normally, by the time you go through all of the engineering for new brackets and rotors, you might as well put a lighter aftermarket caliper back there instead.

Worthy of a discount perhaps? haha

If you guys haven't thought about taking your project 8 to rotary revolution, you should consider it. It would grab a lot of attention!

I was thinking last night about this...

aesthetically speaking...this would drive me nuts...you would think they (Stoptech) would at least have manufactured rear rotors to match the front...i mean just becuase i'm fanatical about everything looking 'right' i would flip a nutty if my front rotors were slotted or drilled and the rear stayed the same flat machined aluminum rotors...

anybody else freaky like that???? or maybe it's just me,...

Vivid, did you ever get around on reporting any results of the Stoptech FBK? Was there any improvement on the stopping distance? I'm pretty skeptical about getting bigger brakes. The stock brakes are as big as they can get. I would've just upgraded the pads, but I guess people can't see those . Was there any significant difference in brake bias? I would suppose that it would give the front more; I'll have to get my nerd on, but not now, I'm tired :o . Keep us posted .

Stopping distance is not really the point of a big brake kit. Big brake kits are more for resistance to brake fade and increased heat capacity. Oh and great looks too!

That depends on the kit and it's intentions. There are several BBKs out there for other cars that are intended to decrease stopping distance, in addition to other desirables.
