I got 15,000 before one of the rears started to peel apart.

I'll get about the same out of these Kumho SPTs for less than half the cost.

I got about 12,000 on my stocks before they became illegal and I had to change them.

I've got 13K on them so far and they are down to 6/10ths. They have been rotated at every oil change (every 6 months). I'll probably keep them until next summer.

Glad to hear it's not just me. I'm at 20,580, and just noticed my fronts are into the wear bars. The rears still have plenty of life left. The first 12-14k of its life was spent 90%+ on back roads at 30-45 mph. It's only the last few months that I've been doing a lot of highway driving, and really screaming through the ramps, which I'm sure has shortened their life.

I got about 22,000 miles out of the Dunlops. They were rotated twice in those miles.

The rears started showing cord on the inside shoulders. I assumed that wear was from travelling cross country with a pretty good load in the trunk.

Alignment has a lot to do with it also. If your toe is off, it'll scrub and wear out a lot faster. Even direct from the factory may not have the best alignment.

I have a 2005 6MT with no power or suspension mods. I plan to do upgrades to suspension, wheels, and maybe rims, but was hoping to go 25K or 30K miles on the original stuff first. However, the Dunlops are losing their grip at 18K. My driving style is spirited but not stupid, I do spend a lot of time on twisty mountain roads.

Oh, I probably have 40% or 50% tread remaining, just the original tires don't seem to have the grip they had when new.

There's a good parallel thread going on the topic of grip vs.tread wear. See:

if you rotate them often, they will last long.

Rotated often (every 4-6K miles) and like I said, plenty of tread remaining. Dunlops just seem less sticky than when new. I wonder if they were softer on the outside like many of the tires discussed at https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=38537 or maybe just the car has gotten faster, the suspension has worn somewhat, or I've become a more agressive driver . . .

I got 45K on my stock Dunlops. I think I can get few more Ks, but looking to replace before the winter. Looking at Kumho Ecsta SPTs. Do Kumhos do better on snow than Dunlops?

Went to check on what's available, and found a smokin' deal on Bridgestone S-03 tires in RX-8 stock size.

Closeout, but if you pay attention to your tire pressure monitoring system and rotate them often, you should be ready to replace them all at the same time.

I am still looking for my car. Looked at one with 26k on it. The fronts were into the second set of SP8090s, and the rears had gone through the second set and had NT555s put on because they are cheaper.

Alignment and pressure maintenance are everything. I'm on track to get more than 40k+ from a set of Pilot Sport PS2s on my E36. When they last like that, the cost per mile gets really reasonable, and totally sweet tires make sense.

Finally replaced the stock Dunlops with Kumho Ecsta SPTs at 47K. Just got them on today and they are noticeably quieter than Dunlops and so far seem to handle well as well.

My Dunlops lasted 29.7K, worn down to cords, and that's with plenty of highway driving.
