stock suspension, lowered springs, wider wheels?

is this bad news waiting to happen?

i need to know if i can run my wider wheels (9.5 +15, 10.5 +15) on my stock shocks with lowering springs for a while till i get my hands on some aftermarket shocks... (stupid backorders)

or should i just avoid this completely?

thanks

I would not recommend something that aggressive on springs which are gonna be too soft. Everyone with aggressive setups runs coilovers for a reason.

You won't have as much camber adjustability so the wider you go with wheel/offset/tire the harder it will be to fit that setup.

im waiting on some koni yellows to go with my sprint springs

ive seen some people running that on aggressive wheels...

of course i know fender work will have to be done either way but i was more focusing on if the suspension would be ok, or if id damage the car?

I wish you luck and godspeed. You obviously are going to forge ahead regardless of the opinions you receive. edit: stock shocks are going to continue to be shocks regardless of the wheels.

do you have any experience with this on other cars in the past? you're going pretty wide...did you get a crazy good deal on these wheels or something?? just not sure it's really worth all the hassle you'll encounter.

fwiw, i'm on konis and tein s, with 9.5 +30 and 275 tires, and i rub in the back even AFTER a partial fender roll.

10.5 +15 on just lowering springs is asking for trouble. Your fendrers won't last down the street and back.

lol and i was freaking out about fitment of a +35 18x9.5 ... i can only assume +15 would be insanely close to not a chance without supporting mods

You're killing the handling of the car anyways so i guess you'd try to stay with the stock shocks 'till the koni yellows arrive.

well, no. not exactly. i need a pull but haven't gotten it yet. i just got the rears rolled...misleading, but i said partial fender roll b/c the guys who did it didn't do the best of jobs...it seems they could have flattened it out a bit more. maybe not, just doesn't seem like they did much...they just kind of bent it a tad bit up and got rid of how wavy it was so it was cutting into the tire. aaaaaaaaaaaaanywaaaaaaaaaay...

ok to recap,

1. I know I will have to roll my fenders.
2. I know I will have to shave some of my lining.
3. I may/most likely need a pull.

So from the 15,900 posts of experience, I have learnt that I should wait for my new shocks or if I can find coilovers in my budget.

That more or less sum it up?

Thanks again for the help.

Yep Though I would throw the wheels on anyway just so you know what you're dealing with.

Really it's WILL need a pull (unless you are going for a super stretch of like 225s) and if you like your fenders you will buy coilovers.

The reason I ask all this is because my car is still in storage, my tires on the stock wheels are absolutely finished. I'm pretty sure they'll rip apart in a few weeks.

Now that the Koni's are on backorder, I really need to get my car out so I wanted to see if temporarily I could run the wheels on the stock shocks until I get the new shocks in.

My only other choice is get some shitty used tires for the stock wheels until I'm set for the new wheels.

What would you do in this situation?

in the sense of a fender pull?

ive seen shots of tiltmode43 pull off the exact same setup but 10.5 and 245 on all 4 corners.

Sifu is running 9.5 +17 in front and 10.5 +17 in back as well, but on 245/35/19

so I know it's doable...

You know what they have in common, right? Not sprint springs. lol I hope you can post pics later and prove me wrong, but I'm gonna say it won't work out too well for you.

Not on Koni's it isn't. Both tilt and sifu are on height adjustable coilovers and have a lot more room to dial in the negative camber needed.

there's that mad mike guy with the white RX-8 on work meisters running koni yellow + sprint springs, and i think he has 11" in the back... (if i remember correctly)

but i guess your main advice is buy coilovers and work on the fenders and everything should work out?
