You're fooling yourself if you think those are 'good' tires. They're cheap tires, with a nice looking tread pattern. I've never owned them, but have driven a WRX with a set. They were less than confidence inspiring ...

Just saying, I would encourage you to reconsider buying those tires. For just a small bit more you can get tires with rubber that doesn't turn rock hard after 5000 miles. That's the usual problem with the cheaper, off-brand tires, they may work well when new, but after some use they turn into ice skates.

And it's the truth, not just an opinion. Of course, if you don't push your car hard, than you many never notice these limitations. However, cheaper off-brand tires also like to blow sidewalls when hitting pot-holes, which is a big problem here in St Louis ... maybe not so much down in Miami.

The Hankook Ventus K104s do not turn rock hard after 5000 miles, and use some of the best materials in the business... Looks like the marketing dollars of the big tire companies are working well... I have used both on several different cars and prefer the Hankook K104s over the S03s any day... I have been racing and modifying cars for over 20 years and have gone through enough set of tires to know that many times marketing is what makes a tire expensive not the quality...

before purchasing my falkens I researched a little on hankooks, and it seems quite a few people had problems with the tire's sidewalls. Many comment how weak the side walls were and were prematurely wearing. But besides that it was a overall okay tire for a dirt cheap price, but one could consider kumho's or falkens instead for close to the same price and have better results.

All the reviews and comments on the K104s I have seen say nothing about weak sidewalls?

Anyway back to the topic of the SSRs, 12 weeks now and still no wheels; I called the vendor and he is having the shipping company track the container...

Damn, that hurts.

I wonder where the problem is, with SSR or the shipping?

Either way, it's not good news for me either.

That's still very frustrating. You would think they would have a better way of tracking whether the wheels are still on the boat or at a dock or on a truck.

At least I am on the West Coast so the wheels won't be on the truck too long.

Man, you must be really dedicated to these wheels. I have gotten a whole new car and a winter set of wheels for that car during the time that you are waiting for your wheels. Don't they sell these on the Tire Rack now anyways?

Let's hope it's no train rushing into the tunnel from the other side.

Waiting is annoying, I've spent only three weeks waiting for my stuff from japanparts and the car was functional all the time. And I considered it a long time.

I hope you stay relaxed for the final two weeks and post pics of your car asap whern the wheels have arrived. I'm somewhat curious what they look like mounted on your car if they made you sell your Hiros.

Wow!

So, assuming that they do arrive on November 7th, how many weeks did it take?

Wouldn't it be around 16 weeks?

I am probably going to contact the vendor I purchased mine from to see if I can get some type of assurance that it will not take any longer than the 12 weeks they quoted me (I was quoted 6 to 12 weeks).

Have you been able to determine where the problem is?

I.e., is this SSR's fault, the vendors fault, or was there a problem with shipping?

If I hadn't already ordered mine, I probably woulnd't have done so if I knew what I know now. Then again, maybe I will get lucky?!

Well they should be here the week of November 8th... I have been driving my daily driver a Subaru Legacy, but I am getting rid of it this month because I have made a move to a new company and one of the perks is a new e class Mercedes demo...

Rob: It was a combination of things... One the shipper waiting for the container to fill up, two SSR took some time in filling the order then three the vendor being over optimistic in the wholle process....

The ship also sails into NY not California, my vendor is in NJ...

It arrives on the 5th then clears customs by the 7th and gets delivered to the vendor by the 9th he turns arround and ships it by the 10th and I should have them via UPS ground 3-4 days later...

mikeb: I am not very happy about the it and if I had to do it over would not use the vendor I went with... And I would pay maore to have them shipped faster... If he would have said they wre going bulk shipping I could have made other arrangments, it was to late by the time I was told about the container...
