Speed Star D5R Wheels

Are the Speed Star D5R from Tire Rack soft enough to be *prone* to pot hole damage?
I really like the bronze anodized look. Wheels must be partly forged aluminum as I can't find construction specifics beyond 20 lbs 5 oz. each.

I don't quite understand what you're getting here... "soft" enough? All Speed Star Rims are quite strong, and all Rims, regardless cast or forged, are all prone to pot hole damage; try to avoid it if you can :D

Speed Star D5R appear to be aluminum, rather than steel, given the color. I am intrigued with the bronzed look for my black 8 because the next step after wheels is custom upholstery with black alligator base and a touch of dark golden brown for accent. Car then color coordinated and I will love the effect.

The "soft" inquery arises due to what I read on this site about SSR G2something wheels being more resistant to damage if one hits a pothole than some other brand (Kosie?) the gentleman looking at. Posters replied and said go with SSR because they're stronger.

The Speed Star D5R are about $80 less than the SSR G___ and my kind of color.
So......what are your opinions about the D5R at Tire rack? To find the wheels, skim through the choices in 18" until the last screen. Dealer here said 20# 5 oz.
