Most of the install went fine with two people on this project. Followed a DIY from this forum but the lack of pictures made it take longer than it probably should have. Lot's of "Is this the bolt they're talking about?" going on most of the day...

Anyway, I had an auto shop put on the H-Techs that were currently installed but wanted more drop as it really wasn't that noticeable going from stock to H-Techs. So I bought some S-Techs and this is what we were installing yesterday. After disassembling all four shock/strut assemblies, I found that the front two assemblies did not have bump stops at all. Is this normal? I assumed there would be bump stops on all four. The rear assemblies had them and they were definitely cut by the auto shop that did the previous H-Tech install but the fronts are not there.

We proceeded to follow what the shop had done (they were closed and couldn't ask) and reassemble the assembly with the S-Techs (no bumps on the front). After install noticed from looking inside the hood that the upper screw/bolt of the assembly were different heights. Both were torqued down tight and I didn't notice when we took them off if they were different heights or not but when looking at the tire from the outside the drops are noticeably different heights. About an inch different.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

 

did you switch the front spring with the rear spring????

 

I triple checked to make sure the springs are correct for front and rear.

 

somebody screwed up, the car comes with front bumpstops from the factory

 

How is it affecting me by not having front bump stops?

 

well I was referring to them not be equal length at the top, something didn't get put togther right

not having any bumpstops can lead to damaging the shocks if they bottom out hard or often enough

 

this is true. you don't wanna loose the bumpstop, they help if you bottom out.

 

I installed my Tokico shocks and Espelir springs yesterday. The upper screw/bolt of the shock assembly should not be different heights. You must have something installed incorrectly. Make sure you order some new bump stops from the dealer.

Maybe the spring was not aligned correctly with the seat?
