RX8-Snowmobile : )

I took a few pics today after testing out my new snow tires (Dunlop WinterSport M2's) in a park by my house. After I scrubbed the mold-release compound off the best I could with some spirited dry street driving, I went into this parking lot and did some braking, corning, and accelerating tests to get a feel for the limits on snow & ice (this lot had 1", which is now melted down to 1/2" with a nice layer of ice underneath). It handled wonderfully... very little wheelspin on take off, and fantastic braking and corning.

Anyway, here a few outside shots of my new toy... ; )

That's the same question exactly as soon as I see the first pic!

I know that parking lot... if I ever get winter tires, we could practice syncronized maneuvers! Nice looking car, BTW.

: )

Actually, it's not very clean... I haven't touched it since I brought it home Saturday morning. I think the secret is there's a very uniform layer of salt and road grime on it... on a cloudy day it's not too noticeable. With snow in the forecast the rest of the week, it's just going to get dirtier until Friday when I put that bad boy away for Christmas break for a two week slumber in the garage. I'm thinking a nice Zaino treatment might be in order before I split for Florida.

Thanks! We definitely have to get together... last year I took my Miata up to Lake Geneva, WI (or should I say ON Lake Geneva)... it was awesome! Talk about learning the extreme limits of your car in worst-case conditions... although my poor e-brake was working overtime doing power slides : ). I'm planning to head up there in February again with the RX8 this time, or whenever the ice is thick enough. I also took my Explorer up there, but that damn computer controlled 4x4 kept kicking in... still a lot of fun though.

Last one... it really takes a lot of angles to capture the curves of the RX8 on film, doesn't it : )

Your black 8 looks great contrasting with the snow. I'll bet that was fun too!

That would make for a fun calendar ... throw in some other colors as well of course : )

BTW, your pics of the black with strakes, aero kit & tail encouraged me to look at the black in person... so thanks!

Thanks... agreed on the color combo, and it seems to be fairly rare. Your 8 looks great, too...

You got that right... it looks like **** right now, but it's too damn fun not to drive- especially with all the snow yesterday. I didn't buy it to be a 'garage queen' : )

I'll keep a lookout for you... I still haven't seen another 8 around here that wasn't in front of a dealer. In my trip to SoFla and back on the other hand, I saw a dozen in two weeks.

well, i've only seen a total of 3 here in Chi-town...1 is often here on the boards and drives a red one (lives by me, around the Wheaton/Naperville area), another drives a yellow one and i saw up in Schaumburg at Tower nighclub (we did the nod), and another over by Wrigleyville in a black one...i spoke with the porter that was driving me to the train station after i dropped off my car for various problems and he told me that the 8's were selling like hotcakes...he said they sold 3 demos cars already and at least 2 shipments of pure, unadulterated 8's
