Is this a Mazda dealer? I am pretty sure federal law prohibits messing with the odometer in any way and it seems to me like a problem with a door light would be in the door switch, not on the cluster. Is this a clean titled car? Did you get a car fax? Suspension should not need to be changed with mileage that low. Unless the car was in an accident or something.

Rx8 problems

Yes this is a certified dealership in Houston. I did get the car fax, It showed me all the regular maintenance done at another certified dealership. I'm at the dealership now and they are telling me it is the steering rack making the noise. They say it is a hard part to find and a new one may not fix the problem but the sound it normal, somehow I doubt it should make that sound.

As far as the mileage, they say it reset because the cluster is new and had zero miles on it (? Still doesn't make sense to me?). They are ordering a "special" sticker from Mazda that certifies the mileage of the car but that is the best they can do.

I think I'm just going to go to another dealership, I feel like they are lying to me, which means they most likely are.

Yeah sounds like BS to me with a special sticker and all but I will have to ask a buddy. The steering making noise is not normal, it should not make any weird noises.

Just asked my buddy (ex mazda tech and now service advisor) and he said that it bullshit and that the mileage can be programmed into the new cluster.

welcome.

Your last sentence pretty much sums up a lot of what is out there. The posts in my signature will get you started, this forum is a great place to read. Post an intro in the New Member forum with pictures if you have them. If you share a bit about your location, you may find someone who can recommend a local shop.

Again, welcome.

MO Strut help?

How easy is it to install struts and shocks? I think the rear drivers side strut and shock is going bad. I keep hearing a thud whenever I have four people in the car. My dad noticed this earlier but I ignored him and thought that the car was just sensitive to bumps. But I have noticed that the thud can only be heard on one side.

Probably just needs new bump stops. Replacing shocks on a scale of 1-10 is around a 6 just for the amount of stuff that needs to be disconnected and pulled out of the way. Plan for it to take a good part of one day the first time you do it. Also you need to do an alignment when you are done.

Longacre Blue Rubber Spacers

Just installed these toady on my 2004 RX8. It made all the difference in the world on my bottoming out issue. Took a total of 15 minutes to install and took my baby out for a test spin on all of the areas I used to cringe on passing over. All I can say is 'unbelieveable'!!!!!
