RX-8 R-3 susp. ? "small side wing" or "large side wing" what?

Hi,
Thanks for looking, can some tell me what the dealership was asking when I went into ask questions about susp. difference. We started with the rear sway-bar for an R-3?
Mazda lists two different part numbers for RX-8 R-3 rear sway-bar.
Can someone tell me what's going on here? We don't have a R-3. small or large side wing is whats confusing.

MM

Edit; Mods should I have posted these thread in Series II?

I dont understand your question. Are you asking if your car is an R3? Are you trying to buy a sway bar for an R3? Are you asking if RX8s with rear suspension from an R3 has wings?

I think the question is, why are there two different part numbers for the R3 rear sway bar and does this mean there are two different versions - one sway bar with shorter "wings" and another sway bar with larger "wings." The wing portion they are referring to is where the sway bar curves in, and mounts to the endlink (I think).

I don't have an answer for the question though, haha.

Thanks guys for the reply's.

I went into a dealership to order a few parts. So I asked the parts guy for some info about a rear sway-bar for an 09 to 11, RX-8 R-3. The parts guy asked me for a vin #. I told him I didn't have one, so he did a search Then asked me if the RX-8 R-3 had "large side wing" or "small side wing"? I asked him what? He then shows me his computer screen. A photo shows up with all the rear susp. parts, he then moves an arrow to the rear sway-bar and clicks on the sway-bar. The screen then shows two part numbers, one with "larger side wing" and gives a part #. The listing also list a different part # for "small side wing".

I hope this helps answer the questions. Also hope someone can give me some info about this. I have been pondering about this. Was thinking about the guys who do SOLO in the stock class. I understand one can change parts for cars from one year to another year.

I went ahead an ordered the rear sway-bar part #F197-28-151 with "large side wing". I know it's going to be stiffer because it's solid steel 16mm not hollow tubing 16mm as the one I have now. Also there is a spot of orange spray paint. The sport susp. cars have hollow 16mm rear sway-bar with a yellow spot of spray paint.

Thanks in advance,
MM
