What do you have to base this on?

To be a little more clear. Most RO_JA's are developed by American Racing. Your paying obviously for the marketing and branding but the key factor is that the wheels are FORGED!!!. Not casted wheels. I run a custom made set personally myself and yes they are that expensive but a very good weight wheel with strength.

In concerns to the R25 (ahem XDEEBDUBX), those wheels are actually manfactured by RAYS for RO_JA. Same guys who make VOLK, GRAM LIGHTS, G-GAMES. Side note too as well G-GAMES are the only fully casted wheels made by RAYS.

For those who haven't been in depth in the wheel scene for very long, many of the wheels that you see on the market typically all come out of the same factories from companies such as AXIS, ALT, KONIG, etc etc... hence that's why you get alot of the knockoff design too as well. Alot of the times the difference your paying for is the marketing.

THe usual key differences in pricing besides marketing you typically do pay for is whether is if it is forged or casted, 1 piece or multi piece, finish and scarcity.

(NOTE: I still think AXIS has some pimp rims)

Ro_Ja R2-5

FYI
The R2-5 is made by rays in japan, forged barrell, cast center, 2-piece wheel. Before you post your motegi/ AR comments you really ought to check your info. Yes they are expensive. Pricing is the same as rays.

I have Motegi DPK's in 19x8.0, and they weight exactly 20 lbs each.

I think you've got a pretty faulty scale then considering the fact that the AVERAGE casted 18 in wheel weighs about 21-23 pounds.

To say that your casted DPK which is not remotely a lightweight spec'ed wheel and at 19 inchs weighs 20 pounds is a bit of a understatement.

The scale is accurate.

I weighed the rims twice with it. The DPK's are not heavy at all.

I looked on a website and it lists the silver dpk at 26.5 lbs. While this confirms what you're saying, I still disagree that my scale is off to that extent. If someone else has unmounted dpk's, please verify for us

Personally I think RO_JA's pricing includes RJ's big celeb paycheck and advertising.

Modifying your cars is an art, some people pay 1 dollar for art and some pay millions. materials could be the same or could not, but as long as you think they are worth it then that is all that matters.

To each his own, its in the eye of the beholder.

But for me if I was are going to purchase a 20k+ car you might as well put some forged multipieces on there then some 300 dollar set that you see 3k civics driving around with. (No hate on civics, I daily drive one)

I don't know if this will be any more conclusive for you, but:

1) I weight the same on my scale as I do in the scale at the grocery store.

2) I have weights at home (to work out with) and the 20 lbs dumbbell reads out exactly 20 lbs on the scale.

So I'm willing to bet that the dpk 19x8.0 rims are 20 lbs.

I just purchased a RO_JA R2-5 I like it tho they are expensive. I'm not about to get some cheap rims for my rx-8. If you have the money might as well get your money's worth.

Uh well you pretty much summed up what I was going to say.

The RO_JA line has specific offsets designed to fit sertain cars as well. At NOPI last year I was talking with RJ DeVera about some of the wheels that they were testing for the 8. They have been working on some 20" fitments, he said "your car is begging for a 20" wheel".

I run Motegi's because:

1. They were one of the 1st brands to offer a competitively priced quality product marketed soley toward the sport compact crowd

2. Because they are a sponsor.

3. They are always going to be a familiar face in the scene

4. You can go anywhere and get them replaced in a short amount of time

Ahem, Actually RJ is a very nice guy, Ive met him several times, maybe you've seen some of his cars, like the Blue and now White Pepsi EVO's they are giving away, they're always at Hot Import Nights/Daze shows.

Personally I still like Volk's, GT-C especially

Do you all know that the RO_JA FF5 and the RO_JA KRUZZ are now the Motegi Racing FF5 and the Motegi Racing DPK.

My prototype set came with RO_JA centers. I had to swap them out for Motegi's.

Same company different name.

Ever seen the Motegi's that Steph Papadakis runs on his Civic? Take a close look. They're good enough for 200 MPH.

Just an FYI, look for some CRAZY **** from Motegi for '05 to be out soon on none other than yours truly's car before you all can buy it. Kinda the same way that Racing Hart has gone this year. Reinventing themselves.

I will let you all give feedback on it soon.
