Replacement brake Rotors (will it end rust?)

I thought about this a while back but this auction on ebay reminded me of it...

I keep complaing about the rust, blah blah blah, but to replace the whole brake system, rotors, calipers and all is VERY expensive...so what about replacement rotors since painted calipers ends that rust/corrosion (I paint myself)???

I mean how expensive are replacement rotors that wouldn't rust? and I mean ones that will perform the same as stock...or even stock rotors with a special coating

the items in this auction look cheap and never would I trust to put them on the 8 but this gives you an idea http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33564

what do you guys know about this...I have no expertise in this field

Why not clean and paint the parts of the rotor that rust? < $10.00

I constantly read about you guys in the States complaining about rusty rotors....are we talking about the face of the rotor that gets wiped clean every time you apply the brakes? And if so, why the angst? I know my rotors get rusty every time I wash the car, but so what!

No - the hub or the part of the iron brake disk that is inside the area that gets wiped by the brake pads gets terribly rusted even though it starts out (I think) w/some sort of paint on it. One solution that 'may' last is G2 caliper paint. Although advertised for calipers, I applied it to the area above, and have since gone to a track day. I was worried that the paint which is advertised to be OK up to 900 degrees F - would get wasted by the heat of the moment whilst braking. Why? Because the shop manual says that repeated hard braking can get the rotors up to 1800 degrees F!!.

However, although the paint (I used silver) did turn a bit goldish in color, it withstood the day quite well, and didn't fail. My good!

cause its most of the rotor, the inner ring can be painted but the whole face of the rotor rusts...why not just replace it with no expensive fully kit replacement

Tru -- what did you decide to do? I hate the rust on the hubs. I did see a DYI on caliper painting where the guy painted the hubs at the same time.

Paintin will only work on certain parts of the brake system. Calipers and other exterior parts of the rotor do not reach the scorching temps the fins see. They always rust, even from the heat. but especialy if you live in a humid climate or by large bodies of water.
