Has anyone else noticed the fabric covering inside the RX-8's rear wheel wells? Is it supposed to be exposed or did the factory forget to install plastic splash guards? I live in a very wet climate most of the year and am concerned about the ability of this fabric to hold up. I'm considering popping off the rear wheels and Scotch-Guarding the fabric. It looks like it's meant as some sort of insulation (possibly against road noise?). Any comments?

 

From all reports this is normal stuff now-a-days for wheel wells and the like. There are other posts about this somewhere. Don't wory, don't Scotchguard, apparently it holds up just fine.
