looks like the drilled part caused it...

the racing brake rotors don't drill as many holes.. but they do seem just as close to the edge:

Pretty soon I'll have a bunch of FD guys running on the track hardcore with RB Setups. I'll be able to get you good reviews on their products from some serious track guys.

From what I've been told and read,

RB uses a far better material for their rotors then what is commonly found by other competitors, i.e. R1, Powerslot, Brembo, and so forth.

I'm still working on collecting data and feedback on the drilled setups from RB but to date there have been no complaints.

Thanks, Rishie

Not yet, maybe later this summer. Then again, I may replace them with the stock rotors for the track.

I see you're running 245s on the stock rims...how is that treating you? Handles better than the 225s? Is the stock wheel wide enough to still provide good sidewall support?

I got 245's all around...KDW NT's...they have sidewall "deflectors" which help prevent squishage (technical term)...much better grip, no mo rainy day death grip either. Best upgrade ever. No clearance issues. A bud is running w/ 265's and no clearance issues there either. Max I think on the RPF1's is 275.

OK...the cracked rotors kind of scare me. Did that happen to all 4 rotors or just one?

Also, option #2: http://www.rx7store.net/RX_8_Brake_R...otorrx8set.htm

I'd probably just get slotted only.

Also, stock rotors are good for the track? Mine are warped from having to stop quickly on the highway when someone hits the brakes for no reason other than to make me warp my rotors.

Stock rotors work great for the track.
Actually, many track guys even use cheapo blanks as throw aways for track days.
Also, you don't get warped rotors from braking on the highway, lol. If anything, you're getting a buildup of pad compound deposited unevenly due to the hard stop. Re bedding the brakes (series of hard stops) would probably make it go away.

i didnt even think about that. good call.

sanding the rotors would also work.

Well, cheapo blanks for the track make sense now. I was thinking you'd want something that you could re-use, but I see the logic in throwing the rotors away.

I'll try re-bedding the brakes. I thought hard high speed stops would warp rotors (i.e., 85 to 60), but you are probably right it's buildup. When I get a chance, I'll let you know if it worked.

If it does, that's $350 that can go towards something else.

Thanks for the advice!

If anyone cares, it was build up that was causing the pulsating feeling when stopping.

Guess it's time for a mod other than discs for now.

I Just installed the r1 rotors. I was a little worried that after installing everything and giving the wheels a quick spin by hand before setting the car back down, it was very tight. Im hoping the pads just need to be bedded in. I drove on them for about 5 miles and braking felt fine, but I definately heard a slight rubbing sound coming from them at low speeds. Do they just need to be broken in or is this a serious problem?

You need to bed them in...if you did the brake job right, the bedding in should get everything adjusted and working properly...

I did 10 pretty quick 60 to 20mph brakes, brakes feel good. The rear ones are still a bit stiff and I can hear them rubbing as Im driving. I think I should have pushed in the pistons on the rear calipers, but then again I used OEM pads and maybe the rotors are out of spec. Tape measured and they were the same width....
