Questions about TEIN basics
So im thinking of getting the TEIN Basic coilovers. I dont want to get too much of a drop. Ive had bad experience with low suspension before and i dont want to go through it again. I dont want to bottom out and scrap the bottom of my car, i dont want to waste my tires. Ive read good reviews on the tein basics that they give good handling for good buck. I mostly want a somewhat comfy ride because i do nothing but street driving. My car wont see any track time. So my question is how much of a drop does tein basics drop over stock and will it bottom cause problems for regular street driving?

Ok i see that the minimun ride height for the front is -1.34 inches and the back -.16. If i set the suspension drop to this much will it cause any tire rubbing issues or will i have to get it aligned properly? Sorry im a total noob when it comes to suspension.

Skip the Tein Basics. To hit the cheap coilover price point Tein really skimps on the build quality and in 99% of their applications they will ride much worse than stock with no performance benefit. Hell, I'd run Megan coilovers(junk) before I'd run the Tein Basics. No offense to anyone that has the Basics, but in all the cars I've been in with them they were crap. Any of the more popular spring/shock combinations will ride and perform better.

i dunno, man. maybe they were set up bad. i put mine on, dropped them as low as is safely possible, got an alignment, and they ride great.
they're sure stiffer than stock, but they eliminate that nasty body role that comes from the factory.
the roads here in florida are a lot like runways; they're not asphalt. But the teins handle the bumps and what not very well, i think.
if i wanted to be more competitive at the track, i would want something more, but it's hard to beat a good, issue free, drop and no body role for 700 bucks.

^^^ I'm with you. I don't have enough experience with other suspension set-ups to say what's better but my Tein Basics handle great on the street and in autocross.
They're definitely stiffer than stock in terms of ride comfort but it's not too overbearing unless you're on some really crappy roads.
As for ride height, i have them almost to the bottom setting with no rubbing and i'm running 9.5" RPF1's with 255/40/18's. When i first got my wheels they rubbed a bit on the back left but i had the car aligned and i haven't had an issue since.
I'd recommend them. A good strut and spring combo is a good option too.

I agree with several of the above comments. The ride quality with the basics is crap. I switched to tein s-tech springs with MS shocks and its great for what I am looking for. If you need a more performance oriented setup, I would definitely recommend spending a little more for the flex.
