Hey I'am looking at buying the AXIS HIRO Hypersilver wheel pkg (245/35/19 front 275/30/19 rear) for $2399.00
Just want to know if they will fit my car befor I seal the deal
I have a 2004 RX-8 Auto. May be I'll need to get smaller tires to put on the wheels so they dont rub up under the wheel well?

They will be fine. I have those same wheels with 265 in rear and 235 up front with no rubbing issues.

 

19s are no problem on a 8, you can even get 20s under there.

 

as long as you're not dropped super low or anything, there should be no problem...just make sure you get the proper offset.

If you drop your car over an 1"-1.25" then you may rub, but otherwise you are OK. My car has an .5" drop, and I am fine, no rubbing at all.

 

Ok cool. But if I do rub I can do a cut and re:paste to clear the well right?

 

That setup will be fine. Just make sure to get the correct offset.

offset is for the wheels.....

So BigO, whats a good off set for the 19's? I'm thinking of going with your set up (Front) - 19 X 8.5 +40mm (Rear) - 19 X 9.5 +40mm but what kind of dampers are you riding on stock? or aftermarket? I'm looking at Tein next. What set do you think I should go with? I dont want my ride too low but to just sink right in and close that gap yet still give that tight handling feal http://www.tein.com/ti/m58.html

I am lowered with Mazdaspeed, Tien's maybe too much but i can't say for a fact.
One of the local board members has those Hiro's and Racing Beat Springs - he doesn't have rubbing issues either.

+40 works, but does Axis make their wheels in that offset?
I just looked and it seems they only come in +35 and +45 for the Hiros. +45 is probably your best bet. +35 will probably stick outside the car.

I recommend getting...
Rear - 19X9.5 +45mm
Front - 19X8.5 +45mm




I'll let you know now because you'll find out later... The lower your offset the deeper your dish.
You can't really get a SUPER DEEP dish rim on an rx8 easily, not as easily as on a G35 or BMW.
BUT, that being said... i've seen the Hiro's on an RX-8 and the lip looks very nice. You can't stick a baby in there, but its still pretty deep... deeper than on my Rays Wheels.

dominion. i would suggest to go with the lowest possible that will fit your 8. if your going 19" staggered 8.5 and 9.5 give me the list here wut the offset are possible on the axis hiro rims. thing is. you will have more negative camber in the middle and it will look awesome.!

 

might rub with teins... teins are a little low.

 

lazi, After further review I'm not going with Axis Hiro's . They weigh too much I think on there site they are listed at 23 pounds. I dont want to get too low. That negative camber in the middle thing will hurt on the pocket book.
Hummm. So Tein might be too low. Whats another damp I can go with that will still be tight?

I think there are some Basic Tien Coilovers on sale in the parts forum... really cheap.

 

On those 8.5" fronts, you can do a 35mm offset and it will look less "pressed in" in the front.
45mm in the rear 9.5" should be fine, though if it is lowered and you do any serious driving, it will rub, even if you roll the quarter panel lip.
I'm running 19"x8" in the front with 42mm offset and there is tons of room even with my nearly 2" drop.
I am about to get another set of my rear wheels, but in 19"x9" with a 45mm offset. I'm only going to run a 255 tire, however since it is a 10" tread.
YMMV.

BigO, my friend will be getting me a good deal. I dont have the cash right now to get the wheel and Tire set plus Tein but yea that will be my set up in the end.
MazdaManiac, I dont think I'll roll the fenders but I might do a custon well whell cut out then re-size.
I should have my wheel's and Tire's by March. Just need a Digi camara now LOL!
