Question PSS9 vs. Stance vs. ?

So heres the thing, i work at a shop and have a looong deal on bilsteins through my warehouse, $1,027.20 to be exact. I'm in the market for a set of coilovers, and really, this price is beyond amazing for the product. my only concern in that unlike the stance, and a few other systems ive seen, as you raise or lower vehicle ride height, your also changing the preload position it the shock, the stance (although difficult in the rear) and a few other set ups inc. megan, have the shock body height adjustment, which is really appreciated in my opinion. another thing i noticed, was that the pss9 setup LOOKS, to use the factory rubber mount up top, please correct me if i'm wrong though, i've only seen incomplete pictures. i much prefer the pillow style mount. on the last note, i dont have a connection for stance, or anyone else for that matter. any opinions or info are GREATLY appreciated.

PSS9 is MUCH better than the Stance. Yes it reuses the top mount...Go over to the PSS9 thread and do some reading. Chike has lots of information about them.

yeah, i was looking through there, and there was some really good info, plus, at the price im paying, its still like 3-400 less than stance, it was more of a concern about the height adjustment also adjusting the height of the piston in the tube. But its almost impossible to pass up the price.

Like TopGear mentioned, the PSS9's are the clear winner here. The monotube shock design has many inherent benefits over a twin tube shock (big $$ Motons, ASTs, etc use this design), and the shock doesn't need to be re-built every 20K miles like many other shock/coilovers on the market (konis, Ohlins, etc).

I've had no issue with ride height adjustment. There's a good range that comes with the shocks F&R. The corrosion resistant shock body finish also helps protect your investment for many years to come.

There's a bumpy lot that my local region runs on and I had an ESP Camaro driver co-drive with me at an earlier event this year. He mentioned that his konis would typically "skip" over the bumps and he would have a momentary loss of steering control in his car (which could be scary at higher speeds). On my bilsteins, he never got that sensation. They just soaked up the imperfections like they weren't there.

Also, the Evo VIII that finished 1st & 2nd in the STU class at Solo Nats last year, was on re-valved PSS9's (re-valves run $125/shock). These shocks offer a great bang for your buck. If you can get them for just over 1 grand...I'd have bought them yesterday!

thanks for the info, i really dont do autox, i stick mainly with full track, ie willow springs, etc... i'm running on kyb's w/ tanabe GF springs now on stock sways, 1, i dont like the height, and 2 its still too soft with excess roll. im looking to run the PSS9's with either a set of progress sways (most likely, like the adjustability) or agency power sways. im also running some 595-RS's 255/35r18 and i'm REALLY happy with those, and i think this setup would really compliment their abilities, ive ran starspecs and $ vs. Performance, i say the 595's win. hopefully soon i can pick up another set of V710's, i had some on my z31 and absolutely loved them.

pss9 are much better coil overs than a lot of other ones in that price range, i feel like in terms of spring rates and valving they're much more optimal than say tein flexes or JICs. Expandability on them are crazy. You can re valve them to any spec you want with the desired spring rate, you can even make them double adjustable with external reservoirs if you have money later down the line.

What i like about bilsteins are that they're simple and thier internals are pretty much similar thru out their product range, that means you can take lower end HDs, and with some work turn them into racing shocks

the bilsteins on the r3s and shinkas tho are unfortunately not revalvable, because of the crimp top =\

Peppy ran the PSS9's on his "track car" RX-8 with a set of Progress sways and loved that combo. These bilstein coilovers definitely work well on the track as well.

Thanks Chike. Seidita84t the Progress Bars are backordered, I do have the Agency Power bars which are the same exact spec as Progress. I only say this because I know Progress makes the bars for AP. I came to this conclusion when I had both sets laying around and could not believe the similarities.

Let me know if anyone is interested I run bundle specials when ordered with endlinks as well.

A-HAH!! finally received my pss9's this morning.... install completed, just waiting for my slow *** delivery driver to come back with my new rubber, gotta mount everything up, balance, then alignment time, hopefully i can be done with all this by the end of the day (kinda a pain in the *** to work on your own car when you've got 20 of your customers vehicles to do at the same time)

i have not yet been able to take the 8 to the track just yet, i havent had the car long enough unfortunately... in the past with my z31 and my FC ive run with both Speed Ventures in the intermediate and advanced classes, and a few times with redline time attack in their HPDE, enthusiast, and street tire class. so far i've been to fontana(auto club speedway), buttonwillow, and Willow springs.
