Unhappy Problem Installing Rims

well I suppose I should give a little introduction before I launch into my problem... I just bought my 8 this Aug and it is by far the best car I've ever owned, and I totally love it... I've been reading the forums for awhile but I don't post much as I know next to nothing about anything mechanical or electrical.... that said, here's my problem

I got a set of 17" rims and blizzak WS 60's for my 8 for the winter, and just went to put them on, and found that the bolts from the car don't clear the rims, so there's nothing for the lug nut to bite onto, so I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem, and what they did to solve it... i was thinking about seeing if I could have the back of the rim shaved to give them room to bite, but then I may run into a problem with the rims not clearing the brakes, my other thought was get some spacers and I was just wondering how that would affect the car and what size I'd need and a rough cost...
the car slides like a crazy carpet without the tires so I'm looking for a solution that'll work fast :p

P.S. here's some pics of what I'm talking about

I can't even get the lugnut on the bolt... the bolt sits flush with the face of the rim... the lug nut would have to go completely into the space between the bolt and the rim... a tuner lug will do that?
