Preload???

i been doing some reading on preloading ,and i was wondering since times are hard right now is it possible to preload the stock springs??? if so how low will it drop? has anyone tried it???sounds like a good cheap idea.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm......


What exactly are you trying to do?


Are you talking about those cheap clamps they sell at AutoZone. They clamp 2 of the coils together, lowering the car a little bit?

If you are, then don't.. They are very unsafe.

im talking about the stock springs. you know the ones that came with the car. anyone tried preloading them?

like i said, there's nothing to preload. unless you had your struts out and tightened the control arms in the air. i'm going to guess you haven't.
preloading isn't something for a lower height. it's something to do to achieve the correct height

i would only use these to compress it to get the top nut on the assembly when changing springs.... but they have better versions... would not use as a means to drop car... lowering springs are only 200.

I don't understand. Preloading is what you do when bolting up the rear (multilink) or front (wishbone) bushings when the car is in the air. It lowers the car to its default ride height from an exaggerated height.
