powder coating - what color?

hey,

i was gonna sell my 8 since it's paid off and was worried about increasing gas prices.

however, i worked out the math and it's still advantageous to enjoy my 8 unless gas prices go to something like $7/gal.

I want to powdercoat my wheels to feel i'm driving something "new" again.

I drive a stormy blue 8, like this

i want to powdercoat my stockies dark bronze like this

thoughts? any other color to consider? was thinking orange

but would look too ricy

I was wondering what colored wheels would look like as well (mine is sunlight silver, so pretty much any color would work). tirerack has sparco wheels in a number of colors (and I believe they are made by the same company as the wheels you have pictured above). Did not even consider it would be a "ricey" look.....oh well, what do I know?! http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/sparco-wheels.jsp

btw, that blue with orange rims would be fine where I'm at...in the middle of University of Illinois Fighting Illini country!

painting your stock rims? or is that your car above and painting those rims?

Anyway, personally i havnt seen stockies powdercoated any color that looks really good, maybe its just me but i dont find the rim to be that impressive to start with.

save some money and buy a set of aftermarket wheels, new or used.

go to Evolutionm for wheels, those evo guys never can hold onto a set of wheels, they are usually good quality too, deals are to be had when buying used rims, usually you can knock off a good 1k or even sometimes they include a set of tires for 1k-500 less than buying the rims new which is a great deal.

If your looking to not spend alot of money and still want very good quality then go with the RPF1, very popular amongst rx8 owners.

If your looking to stay under 1k check out Varrstoen, they make replica volk cast wheels, some may get their panties in a twist over replicas and especially cast rims but I have not seen many break or crack with the exception of a few internet horror stories.

Personally, unless i win some money or find a BEAUTIFUL set of CE28N's that are super aggressive and cheap, ill be buying the Varrstoen 3.3.1's for my future rx7

Hope this helped.

Orange? On a purple car? Oh please, no. For the love of God and all things holy, please do not do this. If there is a shred of decency left in your blackened soul, please. Be kind. To our eyes.

i think white looks okay actually, what about black? go to home depot and plasti-dip your rims black for around 20 bucks and if you dont like it, it comes right off. Its basically a spray paint that shoots a black rubber coating, it lasts about 6months to a year and peels off if you dont like it.

alot of people do it on rx8club, its very common. To be unique what you can do is tape off parts of it to make it different than others. ill do something on photoshop for you and post up in a few minutes.
