Painted Wheels
Took all day Friday to do this started at 2 P.M. and took my friend and I till 12:22 A.M. The paint is smooth to the touch and looks like a pro did it, but I only spent $60 =)
The process I used was as follows...
1. Wash wheels and dry
2. Sand with 600 grit sandpaper
3. Rinse and dry
4. Sand with a 1000 grit sand paper (this is so that you smooth out everything so you don't get little bumps here and there)
5. Rinse and dry
6. 3 Coats of primer
7. 3 Coats of black paint
8. 3 Coats of clear coat.
Also took the center emblems off and taped them up so that they would stick out more with a black back round.
Tell me what you guys think!

Yes or else you will sand off what you just sprayed. Make sure you allow enough time for the coats to set I waited 30mins in between coats for the primer and 45 mins between coats for the paint then about an hour in between coats for the clear coat.

actually by wetsanding the primer with 600 grit before you apply color is how to do it
it will smooth out the primer so the paint and clear will lay out better....and also promote better adhesion
personally I take it a step further by applying an adhesion promotor/sealer after I wetsand the primer before color coat
as for waiting an hour between coats for clear...not true...usually 5-10 mins max. you want it to "melt" into each coat or else it will be dull...and possibly make the clear and paint etch underneath
I do this for a living, but hey, what do I know

Yes I did take the wheels off and if you mean did I take the tire off no I kept those on just used cards around the lip of the rim to keep paint from hitting the tires. I did this at my buddy apartment the garage there was heated and nothing was flying around in the air to stick to the wheels. The pictures were taken two days after painting them when I took it home.

rocktown: looks really nice. i agree with rex- you probably shouldve done inside the wheel, but the outside looks beast with the lugs and the caps. black out those side markers and you'll be lookin nice and evil

Thanks! Good luck with yours!
Thank you!
Thanks man and I was thinking about doing the inside but I figured it would get dirty anyways and this is just a little something to make the car stick out and clean up those horrid curb rashes. Later on I will get a proper set of wheels like some HRE's
