Painted my OEM wheels this weekend...

So I wanted a different look for my 8 and I had thought of going black on my wheels but I dont think that look is all that great, dont get me wrong it looks good on certain applications. I wanted Gunmetal color but Gunmetal is a very vague color, However after doing lots of searching I decided on a color.
I went with Toyota/Lexus paint code 1G3-Magnetic grey.

Looks nice! Did you paint it yourself inside the paint booth?

Now that's a proper way to redo colors for wheels. The color looks great. very even spray job with a lot of depth in the paint.

Finally something premium with OEM quality, not some turd spray can or plastidip action.

It will be a little while, I am making sure they are good and cured before installing my new tires. I will post pics after installation though.

wow those are nice.
someone in town was selling a used set that were painted a bit darker, but they seemed to have a flat finish...nice in some ways, but cleaning wouldn't have been fun...

i'm always disappointed with the finish "inside" the wheels...great to see that done.

Pictues!

I just got the tires mounted and balanced. I painted the calipers black. I just got the wheels put on and had to put it outside to take pictures. I have the biggest grin on my face. I absolutely love the look of the car now!

Okay, I'll shut up now...

Yeah, one of the many things on my "to do list." I keep leaning toward Tein Basic coilovers. Assaultechperformance has them less than $700 shipped to my door!
I need to get a few side paint or detail jobs to pay for that lump!

basics are discontinued, replaced with the basis and cheaper than that 700 price you listed.

Looks good. I'm looking to paint my wheels, as well. My RX8's black. I was debating between FLAT BLACK/GUNMETAL, or going stupid crazy and doing them NEON GREEN. Any input?

Well, i sandblasted mine before painting so keep that in mind too. Im going to guess $750-$1000 to get them professionaly done at a good body shop. My material cost in just paint and clearcoat was $250 but since i did them at my shop thats all i had to pay.
