CA Opinions on Different Sized Tires

I am getting new tires and I was thinking of getting them a little wider, stock tires are 225/45/18, what I want to get is 245/40/18 so the are slightly wider. I would like you guy's opinion,

should I get them wider or stick to stock sizes

or, maybe go staggered with the tires, stock sizes in front and wider in the back

You feedback is appreciated. Thanks

if you are using stock wheels, you do not want to stagger it. it will ruin the handling and there's no reason to do that unless you have wider wheels in back to back it up. I don't recommend stuffing going more than a 245 tire on an 18x8 inch wheel. that's already 9.5 inches of rubber on 8 inches.

you were gonna go wider that 245/40/18 in the rear? What size were you gonna go with? 265/35?

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

I was planning to go 255/40 on the rear or even maybe 265/35, but I allready have new tires, but if you are on stock wheels stick with 245/40 is better than the stock tire size.

i was planning on 245/40 for fronts and 255/40 for rear. do you think that would affect performance at all?

Bighurk: you want to run 245 up front and 255 in the rear on STOCK wheels?
there's no benefit to that as Ngo pointed out.

When I had OEM wheels I ran 245/40 all the way around and it worked very well with the car

If you are on stock wheels run 245 all over, I want to run wider at the rears because my front wheels are 8.5 wide and the rears are 9...

You should run 275's int he front, and 225s in the back on stock wheels. That's what most of us runs.

Oh oh, diagonal stagger! 275 on FL and RR, 225 on FR and RL! Or maybe a lateral stagger? 275 on the right, 225 on the left? Great for left turns?
