Noise issues with MS sway bars
I finally installed my front Mazdaspeed sway bar yesterday, so far my impressions are positive as this is the only suspension mod I have done to my car. I’m still using the stock endlinks for the moment. I’m planning on getting the rear bar next, along with the springs and shocks at some point. One thing I have noticed so far is that I do here some creaking and shifting sounds when it hit some bumps and not others, as long as I’m on a smooth surface its mostly silent.
Now I know as you modify the suspension, more noise is inevitable, but I wasn’t sure how much I should expect. I don’t feel anything weird, the car corners better, the steering is more direct and the body roll seems to have diminished. That said, I’m still getting more noise than I thought I would…. So for you guys that have installed the MS sways, a few questions.
1. What kinds of noises did you notice? How loud is your setup?
2. I notice we have to use the stock bushings, how much of an issue will that be?
3. Since I’m only running the front bar, could some of the noise be that the car is reacting to having a stiffer front than rear, therefore its putting additional load on the sways?
Any other causes for the noises? I torqued the nuts down to the medium range of Mazda’s specs with some good torque wrenches, I was thinking about tightening them more tomorrow when I have some time. I did grease the bushings quite well as per the instructions.
