Unfortunate, cuz it seemed like it was going to be an easy way to replace calipers and rotors all the way around...

Well, looks like we're stuck with extreme front brake bias.

At least until someone starts making aftermarket calipers separate from giant aftermarket rotors...

I just want improved calipers. Like I've said here many times, the stock rotors are pretty damn big. I am looking into Ric Shaw's Alcon front calipers, but they are only on the front. I don't want all bias to be in the front. I want to keep braking performance at its maximum on the street, and the track. Compromises...

I hear you; I'd be happy with a set of four new calipers myself. On both the performance AND appearance sides of the house.

After reading the tech articles at StopTech and understanding their engineering philosophy, why do you think a StopTech front kit will have an extreme front bias?

Um, that was sarcasm. :p

There's a reason why StopTech doesn't have a rear BBK. I'll edit this post later after my nap. :D

edit: http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...erformance.htm

StopTech only has the front BBK for the RX-8 to further balance front brake bias, and increase stopping distance on the street. I believe having a perfectly biased car, while optimal for the track, will give up some usefulness on the street. I've seen stopping distances actually increase with a 50/50 biased car. Let's assume a car with 50/50 brake bias is decelerating in a straight line. When braking, the weight is shifted towards the front, and the moment the car is at rest, the bias is shifted towards the rear. Having more rear brake bias than front will lead to increased stopping distances, or at least according to my theory. 5 or 10 extra feet will make a difference.

If the demand is there, we will be happy to make a rear brake upgrade to go along with our already available front BBK.

The reason the RX8 is difficult for a rear upgrade is exactly because of the hydromechanical e brake on the stock system. I know because my s2000 is exactly the same way.

Up until recently, nobody has attempted to produce a upgraded caliper design that houses a hydromechanical e brake. I know there is one other manufacturer working on this at this time, but i believe Wilwood will be the first to present it to the community.

If any of you need more info, let me know

I personally would love to see a rear brake upgrade...I happen to really, really dislike the appearance of the OEM calipers...and I saw a full four wheel set of Wilwoods on a 350Z today and was totally jealous

Nah don't be jealous. The RX-8 has kickass braking power. We really don't need a rear BBK. I think you're looking more at aesthetics than functionality. I don't know.

You're absolutely right...especially since I got my new wheels, which just happen to show off even more of the rusty stock rotors and ugly stock calipers (even though I painted them).

If I had some money, I would invest in the StopTech front BBK. Personally, I'm not too concerned about aesthetics, well except for the BN Sports bodykit. It's freakin' awesome. :D
