new shoes

$89.00 a tire (usually $135.00 a tire), 245/40-18 ZR W rated. They are made by BFG and sold under the Riken brand name. We will see how long they last for track use. The reviews were just as good as tires twice as much so I gave it a shot. I got them at cost through a friend who works at a tire place. But I had to have them installed elsewhere.

My new 275/35 Riken Raptors should be in tomorrow. My mom works for Michelin and she told me that the Rikens are made from the exact same compound and from the same plant they make the Pilot sports from. But they wanted to get a low priced performance tire out there and when they bought out Riken they found their way to do it. I got mine for $130/ea.

I ordered a set of rays lugs to replace all of them. I had to have the lock removed because I lost the key. I had heard they were made by michelin as well online but they said BFG on the stickers. Are BFG and Michelin related?

I have these tires in 245/40-18 all around. Love 'em to death. Great grip, hardly ever squeal (even when taking a 90 degree corner at 55mph!). Great tires, especially for the price!

In the pic it may be hard to see the tire- the pic was more of the rim itself.

Well, I got mine through a friend so I really cannot say where but it's a small shop.

Not sure if this is the best price but:

This place has them a lot cheaper at $105.00

Try onlinetires.com! I got my 275/35's for $136 ea. Also, any Michelin/BFG retailer.

I have noticed some wobble at over 115MPH. I will readjust the tire pressures and get and alignment and see what happens.

I finally got them installed yesterday...I really haven't had a chance to test them out as much as I want but from the drive home I really have no complaints!

I have increased the PSI to 35 in teh rear and 32 in teh front and it is much better at high speed. I should probably drop the front to 30 but I will play with them some more.

Update:

I have put 6k on them and one autox and I must say that these tires a freakin' great.

I know people usually say you get what you pay for and many of my friends said these would fall apart after my first autox but these tires are wearing well, they are pretty quiet and they did not chunk at all autocrossing.

You have to keep the PSI set because the tires are sensative to changes but overall I love them. Also, it has been raining like crazy and while I tend to drive conservative in the rain I have had to brake fairly hard in traffic and the tires stopped the car perfectly in the wet. There is definately a better tire if you plan on tracking a lot but for the occassional autox and good street handling, these tires are perfect and I will likely buy them again without a second thought.

^I have noticed the sensativity...I have about 3K on them now and also one AutoX. I really can't complain...I went to an AutoX 5 days after install and they were outstanding!!! Still playing with the air pressure...right now I'm running 33.5 up front and 35.5 in the rear.
