New Rotors from Brake Preformance?
]I am thinking about getting new rotors because it is time. (I do not go to the track so please to not chime in to this thread about your perfect factory squeeky OEMS, I have read them all, I believe you) I am tired of the noise and overly abundant dust from OEMs. Pluss the price to replace them is overly more than what I am going to pay for these. They seem to be a good deal check it out!
I want to get the rotors from a company called "Barke Preformance". They have been in business for 25 years and they have a dimpled drilled and slotted rotors with a limited "Lifetime no wrap warranty"! They are also zinc plated in silver or black to prevent rust.
They also claim to have All their "Brake Performance" Rotors are Machine Balanced, Vented for cooling, X-Ray Inspected and manufactured to meet QS and ISO quality system standards. Manufactured from Premium Quality Solid Casting, TUV approved steel.
Here is their website:
http://brakeperformance.com/site/bra...php?&ad=google
They also claim their Performance Rotors have a corrosion protection finish that is electrostatically applied onto the rotors in chemical tanks (not sprayed on like inferior powder coating). their premium quality Zinc Plating remains on all areas including inside slots and holes that do not come into contact with the brake pads. Available in Silver or Black.
Anybody have any experience with these guys?
They are less expensive than racing brake and have a better warranty! To top it off they also have free shipping fronts and back are like $408.00 plus they trow in a free set of front semi metalic pads if you buy a set of front and back,( but I will use other pads like below).
I was going to use Hawk Performance Ceramics or HPS pads. I can get the Hawk Performance Ceramics online front an back for $127 shipped. which is pretty good unless someone knows of a better price?

I'm surprised too that no one can report feedback on these guys. I ordered a set of the black units from them last week and hope they work out. Sounds like they've been around a while.....

I just called them today!
I spoke with them today they said they buy OEM rotors and machine them themselves and then they send temout after xray and balancing to be electropaled in a dip bath. They do have the best warranty around, so it should all be good! Let me know how yours workout and when mine are ready to replace (soon) I will get some too, as soon I need them. If yours are good and all goes well please let me know?

They machine stock rotors?
There's very little thickness on the stock rotors.
I wouldn't get them.
Just get stock rotors from Porterfield. Get the Cryogenically treated.

Stock rotors are hard steel!
Stock rotors are hard steel! They are a racing rotor! Plus these have a lifetime gaurantee against warpage does Porterfield? So why waste your money the dimples and slots should cool the rotors down and add to their life. They seem to be worth a try.

If you aren't tracking your car, why dimpled/drilled/slotted? That can only hurt your braking performance unless you are riding the brakes down a mountain. They aren't going to significantly improve cooling over the venting but they do cut down on the friction surface AND they reduce overall mass which decreases the rotor's heatsinking ability.
Their "Ultra smooth rotor surface" is going to stay that way for a few hundred miles. Then it will become grooved and circumferentially rough just like any other rotor.
And wait, they say that they are just machining and inspecting OEM (factory) rotors but you complain about stock rotors being "hard steel"? It's the same rotor only with an extra "Inspected by Norm" sticker on it! Not only that but I thought that the vast majority of rotors on mass-production cars are iron, not steel.
Brake noise is far more a function of brake pad material and installation method.
Just go with some Brembos and ceramic pads.

Well, this will be interesting. I too bought a set of the 'black' premium units and look forward to receiving them supposedly on the 8th. Apparently, they arrive totally black but the black wears off on the rotor, remaining only in the dimples and slots after some short distance braking. Might also serve as an unintended 'idiot lite' to indicate when the rotors are worn down!
I suspect I'll either love them or hate them. But I just couldn't stand to look at the rusty OE rotors anymore on my otherwise pristine VR/GT. And the price with free front brakes (?) and shipping seems fair.

What part do you not get?

So you can pay more and not get your electroplated Zinc rust preventive coating and have you whole rusty surface area for more money on your car and have it look worse enjoy that it has the whole surface area you want. It is yours and you're so much wiser (think not)? I live here in Metro Detroit and I am an Electrical Engineer. I know many and I mean many automotive engineers who are my friends many have worked for or with Mazda through Ford Motor Company and others from Chrysler and GM. They have all said good deal. You can have your racing background or whatever, (I do not Race) and believe me these are a better deal they are Zinc Electroplated OEMs and they have a better warranty. Get it yet? I also have read many reviews on Brembos all over the net and have heard about wrapping and also quick wear down even on cars that are not tracked. So I am out on the Brembos, these again have a better warranty and did I mention they cost less than the OEMs and the Brembos and every other brand out there (except cheap eBay rotors scary)! Now give me your magical knowledge I know you are a brake expert I will listen. So tell me how I am making a massive critical mistake? Maybe just I found a way to get a better deal on a OEM machined and Zinc electroplated rotor for less!
