thank you, thank you! and for my encore, i will caution against painting your calipers anything bright. cause it's tarded.
do these have the TPMS in them???
if you lower the car and tuck those wheels, you will fall in love, i promise |
rims are nice and i think instead of clear corners you should go with a black stealth corners since you got a blue/black theme going on. maybe even tinted taillights if your into that
^ lol pretty much the route i took with my car
Yeah the picture did make those corners stick out an odd ammount.
I was planning on getting: Rear areo flares front lip (I already have blue lug nuts on their way) clear corners and I was considering loweing it but can anyone tell me how much a lowering kit will cost?(for an average / lower average $ one) Thanks for all the suggestions! |
slam that puppy and it will alter the look.

The more I look at it the more I agree, I definitly need to drop it, I snapped some more pics(below) I guess theyre not as bad as I initially saw them as, but definitly needs some touchups.
How hard is it to install lowering springs? |
Not hard at all really, just time consuming. Just make sure you have the right tools for the job and a solid day set aside. My first time installing suspension was when I installed my stance coilovers. There really isn't anything that you can mess up, its pretty straight forward.
lowering it could be as easy as buying lowering springs such as the Tein S -Tech springs. that will help eliminate a majority of that wheel gap.
Those run between $200 and $250. some people take the opportunity to upgrade the struts as well since you'll need to remove the strut to install the springs but that's up to you and your budget. I used to have Koni Struts + Tein S-Techs and the drop was quite nice. If you want even MORE control over ride height and dampening, then you could consider coilovers but a quality kit will cost you around $2,000. moral of the story: lowering your car is quite simple and can either be relatively affordable or quite expensive. It all comes down to what YOU want to do with your car, what your expectations are, and how much money you're willing to spend to get there. |
Go with black lugs. and coilovers imo.
bren5279, Here are a couple of quick chops with your car dropped :)

Echoing what others have said, blue lug nuts and drop would complete it. By the way, are those Rota p45r's?
Blue lug nuts or black lug nuts and a blue pinstripe. Lower is a must.
rims themselves are not bad. Just need to do a few of the things already mentioned
It's a start
Listen to the good advice already given here, and you'll be well on your way to a finished look |
First thing is drop it! it will 10x better i promise.
then get a set of clear corners, then the stock front air dam/lip will really set it off. |
I would say, stealth corners, blue or black lugs like everyone has said. Drop it.. and maybe a set of black fender strakes. Other than that, the window tint looks sweet as it is.. But do what you want man. I think the blue lugs would give the wheels a little character instead of being a huge black void.. but that is just me.
Say no to fender strakes
To each his own Tweek. I like the Polished strakes I have on my VR. It just adds a little aggressiveness to it. It was just a thought I figured I would throw out there.

Quick question: What are the specs on the wheels? I only ask as they look like they stick fairly far out. Dropping your car will definitely help out the looks, and can help with handling depending what setup you go with.
I don't need to re-iterate what others have said... But where in NC are you??? Wilmington? *crosses fingers* LOL!

we don't know what the OP's plans / goals for the vehicle are and considering his car is relatively stock looking, I don't think spending that kind of money on coilovers at this time is the best use of his funds. If we knew he wanted to track or have an agressive drop, or he had an aftermarket kit, then I could see us talking about coilovers. |
Thanks for the photochop, gives a great visual aid.
Theyre XXr 522 18x8.5/9.5 with 30/25. def agressive, but I much preffer agressive setup, the rims dont stick out as much as they look in the pics, I kind of wish the rear would be a bit more...I was actually ponderin rear spacers but Idk if it would be a good idea... In Mooresville, why got any good parts lyin around? Yeah Im gona pass on coilovers untill I get some more cash, definitly going with some drop springs though.blue lugs too. Just gota get out the powdercoatin stuff to do them when I get some time |

Your rim style was pretty simple so you may want to steer clear of 'over doing it'. Keep it clean and simple. Dropping it and getting clear corners n' aero add on's are a good start. also, kinda random n' my apologies if you've already answered this but...whats the sidewalls on your tires? they look kinda tall... what kind of lugs did you get btw? open ended?? |
Not a fan of black rims.
Strake it.
Nah, just a stock exhaust and always looking' to drive with another 8...
So I Just came upon a realization that made me feel like an idiot, I havent been around my car much since the swap, and I just noticed it now(second time at the car since)
The idiots who swapped my wheels put the 9.5's on the left and the 8.5's on the right, hence the not so great look (since the pics were from the right):wallbash: cost me 40$ to swap em but now the car looks a Lot better, the way it should. Yet another frustration- My blue lugs never came, so I sharpied the silver ones blue untill I get some blue ones in.. ------- tires are 235 40's, yeah theyre a little tall but theyre snow tires so... |
you paid 40 dollars to have your wheels swapped....5 minutes of the easiest labor on your car? lol :D
^except the tires are probably directional
hope you're not using stock lugnuts |
Im not that stupid, ... besides I think most tires are directional too...
cleaning the tires would be helpful too...black wheels with brown sidewalls no looky so good :)

here is mine lowered on similar rims (black g35's). i still need to get some of the tigrey corners from rotaryfx to bring it all together.
oh nice dude i have the same rims but mines are 19x8.5 front and 19x10 rear(rolled fender) with tanabe springs (1.2front and 0.8 rear) pics coming soon
I think all you need to lower it down and it will look fine. For me, I don't like the clear corner look on WB
I really like them alot especially lowered, I would get some tire shine tho i love shiny tires
Im thinking of getting the same ones for my next rx8 but 19" ones say 19x10 +25 or so.
would these fit? Also I would assume it would cost to have the fenders rolled, how much does that cost? |
yeah i have the same offset but you wouldnt be able to do 19x10 in the front so try to go stagger and rolled fender are like 40-50 depend on your autoshop. i went with 19x8.5 front and 19x10 in the rear n i had to rolled the rear fenders
19x10+25 at stock height would be a good look...............................jk. Socompro is trying to help, but I really don't think those are the best answers.
lol tried but i know im not doing a great job.... but just trying to tell him because i was going to go with the same 19x10 setup.
I'm buying these wheels and I have springs and many other parts sitting under my bed... just waiting for the wheels for a whole day of installing and tuning. But these pictures get me excited, the drop will be goooood.
