My Tein S. Tech install.

Just installed S. Tech's today. I think it looks good, but thought it would be a lil lower. Springs were preloaded. Rides great though.

yeah you have to remember that they are going to settle a lot in the next few weeks. Take a pic then and compare it to your after shot of today... you will be impressed

you need to preload. Trust me it should go lower.

Great pics! I just got these springs from my bro as a x-mas present. (awesome present hehe) Here's a dumb question for you...what do you mean when you say you have to "preload"?

This means to loosen the lower control arm bolt so that the suspension will settle, then to retighten the control arm bolt (all this when the car is loaded- I agree that "preload" is misused as a term in this case). By not doing this, the settling process may take longer. Do a search- there's plenty of info and pics on the matter.

You should have replaced the rear shocks while you were at it.

I've got the S-techs too. This is the height the car should have come with. Once you see an RX-8 at stock height, it just looks ridiculous compared to a nice drop.

grats on the S-techs. Nice drop on the front and really evens out the car.
I've got these springs on some Koni struts, pure win.

Glad to see they settled even more after the install

The ride is great! I say it rides a little better than stock.

I hear ya....I love the springs and they are a cheaper way to kill that ugly gap in the front, but some adjustables would've been nice to get the perfect ride height.

Very much agreed. Since the car came with such a gap in the font, they could have had the rear just as high so it looked even.

The drop is said to be 1.4 in the front and 0.7 in the rear.

S techs are 1.8 IN THE FRONT and .7 IN THE BACK.. (per fluid)

But most have found them to be 1.4/.7 f/r

I just purchased a set of S-Techs (waiting for them to ship) also. Can anyone suggest a set of struts to pair these with that will help keep a high ride quality? Will I be disappointed if I continue to use the OEM struts?

Thanks for the input.

It's not really a matter of disappointment so much as you will be putting a lot of additional wear on the OEMs.

Go with Koni Yellows or Tokico D-Spec shocks. Both are very popular. Tokico's are more adjustable but don't quite reach the stiffness of Yellows so if you plan on track/autox go with Yellows or if you're looking at a DD stick with the D-Specs. More than likely you'll be happy with either.
