Motoforge SG10 Rims 18.2LBS!!!

I just bought a set of Motoforge SG10 rims, Each weighing at 18.2Lbs which is not bad considering I paid $899 + Shipping!

I went to weigh the stock rim with RE40 225/45/18 tire and I was in Shock!

51Lbs!!!!!

So that means that the rim is 23lbs plus 28Lbs for the tire! When I was looking at the bridgestone web site, there were two RE40 tires, one was 26lbs and the other one was 28lbs. I always thought the RX8 had the lighter ones!

So now I have go shopping for a light weight tire for my rims, somewhere between 23 to 24lbs per wheel, Or mayve lighter????

Who makes the lightest tire??? 225/45/18 or 235/40/18

continental makes real light tires, but they're cheap. Toyo t1 are pretty light also. The stock rim I believe is 21.5 lbs.

If you don't mind, where'd you get them? I need a set of rims, and the cost/weight/look is just about right.

I got them off Ebay. I was considering SSR comp, but they were double the price!

The lightest tires that I was able to find are the Toyo T1R 225/45/18 at 23Lbs

So with this setup, I'm losing 10lbs per wheel!! Cant wait to have it installed!!

EBay huh, I'll have to keep a look out. I too was considering SSR Comps, but they're a bit pricey.

Here's a pic:

Hey Mike tire rack and Bridgestone rate the RE040's at 31 lbs.

That leaves your stock rims at 20 plus the varience in your bathroom scale.

Check again, it says the 225/45/18 RE40's are either 28 or 27Lbs

RE40's 245/40 ZR18 are 31lbs
