I know there are more then one thread out there on the lack of rotor life but I am just now experiencing the pain. I went in for the scheduled oil change and mentioned a vibration in the front end. I thought maybe something small, no big deal. Turns out I need new pads and rotors! This seems insane as the car has barely of 35k on it. I do not brake hard and rarely drive the car long distances. Has anyone else had any luck what so ever getting the dealership to step up to the plate. I really do not want to give Mazda $600 for new pads and rotors. I was told its normal to need new rotors around this many miles. I thought 35K was a little low, well actually a lot low. Just thought I'd see if I have a fighting chance. Thanks in advance guys/gals.

I have had the same problems with mine. The dealer turned them for me for free once, but that only lasted about 2k miles. I have just ordered Hawk Ceramic pads and new slotted front rotors from racingbrake.com and going to see how good aftermarket parts hold up. Don't give Mazda the money for their these cheaply made parts. The pads and rotors for the front cost me $340.

You shouldn't even be fighting about that issue. When my rotors went bad I definitely had more miles on them than you have and the dealership replaced them for free with no questions because its utterly rediculous to have to change rotors on a relatively new car.

Just installed and bedded in my new pads and rotors from racing brake. These things are so nice, I almost forgot what it was like to stop and not have to feel like a bobble-head. Btw, I am at 39.6k miles right now and my factory pads looked like they still had half left on them. I figured if I was going to put new rotors on, I would put new pads on too.

I had the same problem..(25k mi) The dealer wanted like $700 but I found a service bullitan on this. I printed it out and made them replaced pads and rotors for free!!!! Find the bullitan and your problem will be solved.

I have 15,000 on mine and just took it in for service. While I was there I told them of a line/groove that was forming in my left rear rotor on the outside They took the pads out and said they would replace them and the rotor. THere was a small particle in the pad material. I said "what about the wear on the right side?" "Now I would have uneven pull and wear on the right then the left."
So they came back in a couple of minutes and said they would replace the right side
(pads/ rotor) also.
I Love my Mazda Dealer.

Light use of the brakes and lots of city stop and go driving can cause the pulsing you're feeling. Make sure that you bed in the new brakes and treat them well.
BTW, I hope that you can get a new set of rotors and pads from the dealer.

^ Agreed... After bedding in... Go out and really lay on the brakes regularly from high speed, low speed, and all speeds in between ... the brakes won't break and they'll actually work better and last longer...longer. Light use, light stops are the death of rotors (pad deposits on rotors, rusting, etc.
