Modified Magazine Wheel test
An interesting read
http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-09...ter/index.html
They compared most of the common wheels
like 5zigen fn01rc, ssr type f, volk re30, axis halo, AME T02
5zigen produced some of the faster times

I remember reading this when the mag hit the shelfs. Good concept for a test, glad someone posted it.
Still doesn't make fake wheels right if you can afford the real deal though :-D

Broad range of weights though, I can easily see people using this to justify it all saying "See, no substantial difference in performance, even with differing weights!"

LOL! FN's are an original design to my knowledge and not fake!
What I meant was, some people may justify a 1 second slower time to save themselves $600. Axis aren't the bottom of the food chain but with even less expensive wheels the savings will only grow greater. I threw a quick search into google shopping for kicks and buying axis halos over xt7's saves you a total of $650 total for a wheel that may or may not perform too much slower than a similarly designed authentic wheel.
Driver's skill makes many differences as such nearly negligible as well.

I have nothing against fake wheels, body kits, etc - they serve a certain portion of the market that would otherwise be vacant: inexpensive parts.
ross_dawg - Do you mean which would we realistically pay full msrp for?
w00t w00t! i love the 5zigens but between them and the ame tm02's i'd have to pick the ame's. The sheer styling alone would've made me pick em' up and now that i know they did fairly well against those wheels I'd DEFINITELY go with the ame's.
