MazdaSpeed SS Brake Lines

Looking at SS brake lines for my car. Does anyone know why the MazdaSpeed ones (at $418 from rxgarage.net) are so much more expensive than other options, such as the Goodridge ones (about $150 from various sources) which seem to be well reviewed in other threads? Does anyone have any comments on quality or "feel" difference between the two? Am I missing something obvious here?

Any comments on the Agency Power ($140 from vividracing.com) or AutoExec ($375 from vividracing.com) solutions?

I have the Goodridge brand of SS lines and they work great. They didn't have the factory-type midship locating points but a proper tie-wrap job eliminates the possibility of rubbing. I have since seen prices cheaper than the $160 I paid, so keep looking around.

The only reason I can think as to why the Mazdaspeed brand cost more is only for the name and the impression that they are needed to keep the factory warranty intact.

Prices

The best pricing on the Goodridge set I have found is at Hoerr Racing (www.hrpworld.com, but they also sell them on eBay with lower shipping costs) for $132 + $7 s/h.

Yeah, I got the Goodridge as well. A snap to put on, and brake pedal feel was much stronger.

I got the ones from Mazdatrix for $95, easy install and the front lines have midpoint line holders which mount at the stock locations. Nice firm feel to the brake pedal now.

Joe
Tire Rack has them for the 8 and they are in stock (just had them installed on Friday.)

I think they were around ~ $130 shipped if I recall.

Thanks, ZOOM RX8, these are certainly the best price, and they look better designed than the Goodridge ones what with the midpoint holders. Order on the way....

PS Did anyone notice the TURBO KIT you can "add to your cart" at Mazdatrix for $3790? It looks to be real? They got pictures w/3 port exhaust manifold even

Spin, that turbo kit you mentioned has it's own thread going and the orders are being taken as we speak. I was offered one by a local shop at wholesale cost so we could play with it and see how well it works. I'll also keep the nitrous and develop a map for that on the E-Manage that comes with the turbo kit. A turbo'd and nitrous'd RX-8 that is already running 13.7's in N/A form.....I wonder how quick it will be with the nitrous and turbo?

My pleasure. One caution, get new bolts to mount the mid point holders. The mid point holders on the Mazdatrix SS brake lines are thicker than stock and I stripped out one of the mounting holes in the control arm when I tried to torque the bolt to spec. The control arm is aluminum with the hole threaded directly into it so it doesn't take much extra torque to strip the threads. A 8 MM X 1.25 X 16 MM (long) worked well and didn't bottom out, I also used some locktite to secure the bolt since I was a bit leary of torqueing down on the bolts after stripping one.

Thanks for the heads up ZOOM. Those are the little things that turn a fun afternoon into ... well... not a fun afternoon.

I guess that's the point of any Mazdaspeed parts... Providing the right compromise between sport performance parts and comfort.
I'm still unsure to go for them, since the big brake project Mu kits come with teflon lines...

That part should be discontinued. My friend's rotormaniac's response is from 2005.
If you've ordered a bbk with teflon lines please don't spend money on more braided lines! If not, every respectable brand offers a set. Goodridge, hpi, hel etc. I can't tell you if they add something. Maybe when pushed and brakes heat, those lines don't expand? I can't measure it though. Have them on many years now (goodridge), don't remember how oem ones reacted.

Thanks for the answer... They're a bit of a vanity part I want to add to the build. I managed to collect almost every MS parts (expect the jojo crap for the interior... Not interested in those), I know they're not the best around, nor the most performing or hardcore parts, but since they feel like well balanced I'll give them a try anyway.
Once I've cleared my 30-days period, I'll make a post about the RX8 I'm doing (Pettit racing SC w/ 14psi pulleys + water/meth + (maybe NOS) + 6-ports rebuild ported engine + lightened balanced rotors + ceramic seals + radium fuel line + ss lines all around + adaptronic + ... + ... + ... ... ... ...), you'll understand the extend of the (financial) damages, so I'm not really at 400$ more or less on that one.
The project Mu lines won't go to waste though, like many others here... I'm an addict, so the RX8 is far from being the only project car in the garage
(I also have a FD dyno'd @ 325whp on low compression, after remapping she has the internals to be around 450, and we're bidding every week to get ourselves a 4th Mazda... actually an Autozam AZ-1 destined to become a pocket-drift-rocket, not decided on the engine swap yet... Hayabusa (current winner) or 13B or 20B... whatever fits, I guess!)

I have buy also Goodridge lines for my rx8 2004 model.
It came with soft bag and the fitment is not direct plug and play.
The nut of the goodridge (were is fit on chassis side ) are bigger from oem so I have to trim the chassis in order to fit properly on chassis and plug the metal clip.
Can you please post some pics from yours goodridge ?Maybe I have buy fake ones.
I have buy this ones https://www.all-stars-motorsport.com...000028835.html
