Looking for some specific Bilstein information

I am a S2 R3 owner, but as you know the S2 has limited options for suspension, especially if basic like lowering springs...

The s2 dampers have a different rear spring perch height which makes S1 springs sit weirdly on the car with the rear being higher.

Basically, I really would like to reduce fender gap by lowering the car. I don't want to keep adjusting height, stiffness and such - The Koni, the Tokico DSP etc don't appeal to me anymore. If the stupid s1 springs just worked on s2 properly, I would be happy. It came with Bilsteins, so I want to just get a set of Bilsteins, really.

Since that is not the case, I am looking at the bilstein dampers for the S1. I see the B6 damper option and a B12 option with damper and spring.

I cannot find much info on the B12 combo - Is it really an Eibach pro-kit spring or something different made by Eibach? I called Bilstein and the guy said he was not sure, but was probably similar. The springs are grey, apparently. while pro-kit springs are black, not sure if that makes a difference.

Also, I asked if the kit was basically a B6 HD damper and eibach springs put together and he said - they were different dampers and the B12 is valved to match the springs included. These are also special order only.

He said no spring rate information except it dropped 25-30 mm in front and 25mm in rear, very close to Pro-kit rates again.

Anyone know anything different? I cannot even find retail pricing on this setup. MSRP is 1000 bux which is ridiculous.

Anyone own a set of B6's and lowered on a different set of springs? The B6 is pretty affordable as a set for under 500. No fiddling with it either. Throw some springs on it and just drive it is all I want to do.

Thanks

I think the best option for series 2 are coilover that way the difference in spring perch height doesnt matter. If you are doing this for looks alone there are some fairly inexpensive coilovers such as Megan's or Stance.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I get that coilovers will fix the spring perch issue - But, I want simplicity. I have had coilovers in the past and most have issues with rings seizing up, spring noise due to eventual worn seats, high spring rates that cause bad ride, increased NVH inside etc. Plus, you have to adjust height to get it right, its all a giant PITA. I would rather get the lowering I want with a simpler solution.

Also, a good spring/strut combo can rival most sub-1000 coilovers. If I bought a coilover, I would start at the PSS9 which is close to $1600 and just not practical right now for me. If I have to spend 800 bux, might as well get the gen 1 Bilstein and some lowering springs like swift, ya know?

I just need to know if the bilstein in the R3 is same as the B6. This way all I would need to do is buy the rears alone and get some springs which would be cheaper than the cheap coilover route.

Hope I am making sense. I just need bilstein information more than anything else. Bilstein USA seems to be as worthless as **** on a bull.
