Kumho Ecsta SPTs question...

I've had a set of the tires for about 11k miles now and they're already and their legal limit for tire tread...do they wear out that fast? My stock Potenzas were bald at 26k, but at least they lasted longer. Would changing the tire pressure make a difference?

Are all four worn out? How have you been driving? Wearing out at 11,000 miles seems to be a bit fast for the SPTs so I'm suspecting an alignment issue...

By the way, post 666.

All four....I drive pretty aggressively, take turns twice the speed I should be taking them, and I've done some stupid things in empty parking lots. Maybe it's a bad question

Should I get the alignment checked anyway?

Get the alignment checked; all it costs is money. If you're talking about the "suggested speed" signs for turns; those are all BS and twice that amount should be no problem. I'm not sure how badly you messed around in parking lots though...

Hm, I'm considering these for my next set. But now I'm wondering how much you messed around in a parking lot. I only drive fast on lonely highways for decarbonization, but I only drive it hard at the auto-x. And these tyres will be daily driven until I have money to obtain some new wheels.

I'm stretching to get another summer out of mine. I'll have about 14,000 on them by then, and they'll be ready for the junk heap. They're already starting to get noisy as I get closer to the wear bars.

At the end of the day, that's about all I got out of the stock Dunlops, but these were less than half the cost. I'll see what's available next spring and make a decision then.

I would check out tirerack.com reviews. I think that is way too low for these SPTs. Under normal driving, I am thinking the would make it to 25-30K no problems. Sounds like you are a aggressive so maybe not. Maybe your alignment is wacky.

i did 35k mile on them.. spring drop killed the tires...

my guess is 40k miles street driven would be about right.

Oh yea, I triple the ones with the signs, lol. I'm talking about intersections and whatnot where I take sharp 90 degree turns at 40 mph sometimes

It was only one dry day at the parking lot particularly where a friend and I did some wheel spinning and donuts and whatnot for about 15-20 mins. So obviously I have to cut down on that since I'm on a tight budget these days with school, and try to control my track fantasies on the streets. Are there any symptoms to a bad alignment? My car doesn't lean in any direction or anything when I'm not steering, but I'm sure there's more to it than that.

Haha, I saw that coming. Don't worry, I don't do anything like that with people around me.

Attempt to drive more conservatively, not easy with this car -_-
