I like it! :D I would tend to think that black wheels have more in common with real racing and not rice. My wheels aren't black but are close. And they don't show brake dust!

if black rims are for real racing, what about white rims? i've always wondered how they would look on a rx8.

Snizzle, you know if those are taillight covers or a complete unit? I like them.

You can actually DIY if you like the look. Go to Autozone or a similiar store and buy something called NightShades. It's a spray on job. Other than blacking them out, I believe those tailights are the same ones we have.

I'll join the camp of not going for the black painted rims. The outright contrast against the tyres themselves make the tyres look dull brown. So the look is distracted against the tyres. Maybe can black paint the tyres, which would look awesome, but hell of an effort to keep 'em like that. On the other hand, white rims are a great contrast against the tyres, but the rims, especially the fronts due to brake dust, will require a major effort to keep clean. Best look IMO is gunmetal with the chrome rings since the ring contrasts nicely with the outline of the tyre and the gunmetal is soft enough to provide a nice balanced contrast....my 2 cents

Honestly, if you have a black car you should be washing it every week right? Or at least every two weeks? Thus! Tire shine... oh baby. hahaha. Negate the brown tire look!

I would agree with you on the race history of black/dark rims. But I would still tend to agree that there is a difference found between painting a stock rim black (or hubcaps in the case of Honda's) and purchasing a set. I guess it is a styling issue for me. I don't like our stock rims painted black. I have a feeling that a portion of why I don't like the look on the two that are in this thread, is the finish. The gloss black just doesn't look right to me. Most "race" black rims are not glossy, at least they don't look that way in pictures. And that is what we are really relying upon hear...they probably would look better, or maybe worse, to me in person. I have yet to see anyone do anything besides chrome their stock wheels (in person). At this point, Im just going off of pics, and what young kids do to their cars in the area where I live.

I actually enjoy making a game of looking at cars in a parking lot at a fastfood place, and then trying to match them up with their drivers when I go inside. I'll sit there for awhile, make some guesses, and see what car a person goes to when they leave. Usually, the car with blacked out rims goes to the youngest person (of driving age) in the place....try this game on your own....you may be amazed at how much a person, and their car, go together. Or you may amaze yourself at what you now realize about cars and their owners. Kinda like that statement about dogs and their owners looking a like.

Think about this simple example...a lifted truck versus a Volkswagon Jetta...which one would you estimate is more likely to be driven by a girl?

Purple Civic...guy or girl, and what age would you think first?

EVO VIII....guy or girl, age?

and so on...then when you figure that out, then start to take noticed of modified vehicles in each of those groups...what is done. Many times, things are done by certain groups because of the costs involved.

good luck with the game, let me know what you uncover. I'm always picking up something new, everytime I go somewhere. It has gotten to the point where I am usually able to tell what car a person drives, or even the color of that car by talking with someone for 10 minutes. as you can tell, been playing this game for a while...kinda like this message (sorry bout that).

If you were originally from my area of California, then you would definately be in the UN-usual group....I've never been east of Texas, so I can't really speak about what people are in to outside of my experience. Black rims are definately at their high point right now in popularity.

I'm not really a big fan of yellow but I've got to say that yellow on black looks sicky sick. The yellow calipers brings out the wheels too.

I would only do this on a yellow 8. But my last car had Black ADR Syntax's

The other problem with posting pics on the site now is that they reduced the file size so far, its hard to make any pic look good. Its rather disapointing, because this is our best way of looking at different mods people do to their cars. I may suggest finding someone on the site that may be able to host the pics for you...or find a web service that will do this. There are a couple that will do it for free. Lots of people put up links to their pictures on Cardomain.com, but I don't know whether this is free or not. This may be one way to get better pics of your wheels up.

Another suggestion would be to take the photos into a photo program and chop out all the uneccesary background so your not wasting file size on the parking lot and all the cars in the background. This would help too.

Like the black on black, but as mentioned before, keeping the tires clean and shiny is a must (lowered would help too). I thought of doing a flat black spoke with polished lip on my Titanium, but went with the Gunmetal Volk GT-C. (nearly a perfect paint match) As far as that white one pictured........HUZZZZAH! I normaly HATE white cars but damn that's sexy!
