JantzenRX-8's new track set-up: Enkei NT-03+M 17x9.5 + 44 w/ BFG R1 255/40/17
I wasn't going to post pics of my new set-up but i'm actually surprised how much i like the way these look.
I haven't had much of a chance to test them out yet. I cleaned them (bought them used), mounted them up, checked clearance, aired them up a bit and went for a test drive to make sure everything felt good with no rubbing etc.
Quick initial impressions from my 10 min street drive:
For being a full on race-comp tire they're not loud at all. They're no louder than my Bridgestones RE050A PP were (at least up to 90 mph -- shh ) and i'd say they are quieter than my crappy Sumitomo HTZ III's that i have on my other wheels. They're super grippy and the better gearing of the smaller diameter tires is noticeable. They're also noticeably lighter than my Enkei RPF1 18x9.5's. I think that's mostly weight loss in the tire though.
Gotta go but i cant wait to get these suckers on the track

pictures of your seats please
personally i just can't like the look of 17"s on our cars. the benefit in acceleration and weight loss might change my mind if i experienced it, but until then, me no likey.

There are some seat pics in here https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/jantzenrx-8-gets-bored-takes-some-photos-191540/
These are strictly track wheels and tires so i don't really care how they look. I dont like the look of 17's as much either but they'll save me hundreds on future sets of race tires and the better gearing is obviously better for the track but might not be enough to justify losing the look of 18's on the street for a little extra pep in the acceleration department. But I guess that's up to you to make that justification.
BTW - braking with these tires blows my mind. I can shed 50 mph so quickly now. 80-30 feels amazing. It really hunkers down and makes braking feel rock solid with barely any twitchiness. Me likey

Yes i love my other rims also. Unfortunately i think i'm saying goodbye to the RPF1's today. I've got a buyer coming to look at them in an hour -- hopefully they fit his car.
