Installed Brake line kit?

Hey guys has anyone changed there brake lines yet? If so can you helpe me out with some questions?
I placed a order for a brake line kit and when I took off my wheel this is what I found;
Ok this is the front left wheel of my 04 AT RX-8 non-sport suspension, Looking at the brake line coming from the bleader area.

Here we see that the line is split in 2?

In this pic I'm holding the back brake line that comes in the kit and showing the front brake line they sent in the kit.

So my question is? When I remove the part that is spliting the front brake lines will this effect my brakes at all, after I put the brake line on that came in the kit?

I mean after I chang the lines its not like I will be needing that part so whats it for any way?

Thank you for your time,
-Gil

Other than having it backwards ;)...and I think that's the rear brake line...you just use the mounting bracket tab that came in the kit where the joint is.

The front line ( I think that's a Goodridge line??) should be longer than that

That intermediate part that bolts to the control arm is integral to the brake line, there's no way to keep it. There should be some sort of anchor in your new brake line kit to retain the line at that point.

Yeah my understanding is that the part you are loosing is just to help mount the line to the frame. Your new lines have a clip that bolts to the A Arm which has a loop on it for the line to run through. It should also have a black rubber tube to go between the line and the clip.

You can kind of see that in this photo.

For me I just took everything out. and then install the clip that came with the kit.

I think that hook is just to there so the rubber wont rub against the metal part of the Axle.

I have never changed brake lines befor.
Just Rotors and pads (Drums in the past or what ever they where called. They still make them? Oh well).

I just placed the lines there so you guys can see whats in the kit they sent me. I'm not going to install them backwards ;) yup thats the rear line :)
I looked in the DIY but only found a DIY on changing brakes/pads.

Thanks for the info and help guys. I hope to have my brakes all dolled up for SSX.

I'll let you know who it turns out and if I bump into any probs.
