increasing ground clearance?

Hello all,

I am a new here and I want to get a RX-8.
There is a one little thing that bothers me before getting the RX-8. Since, I live far north we have plenty of snow about 6-7 months per year. I want to have more ground clearance during winter season. Well
getting the 19" rims&tires helps but not enough. Would it be possible to lift up the RX-8 about 2-3" temporary during winter or not?
THanks for yours help in advance, and sorry if that question has been already answeared somewhere else.
I do understand that by lifting up the vechicle I will significally drop in handling and performace.

yes, i understand that rx-8 isn't truly a winter car.
In fact we are moving to the warmer place after my contract expires, I just soo eager to get and try RX-8 ASAP.
I've seen some lowering kits on the Net, why no any "Lifting Kit" available? WEll may be I should get a Jeep Wrangler instead :-)

Since the 8 is considered a sports car, I don't think you will find any kits to lift it. Most all springs or coilovers will do the oposite.

get the eight then take the money you would use to buy the fictitious lift kit and buy a cheap car for like 2 or 300 bucks and drive that all winter thats what i did up in maine and new hamshire i currently am still driving the 1993 sentra i got for under two hundred dollars tax tagged and titled and that included the price of a new battery it uses more oil then my 8 though

You could go Air Ride, It will likely do exactly what you want, damn low in summer, damn high in winter.

For the convenience of the adjustability, you will lose most of the sporty handling to the 8.

Im not sure how it would feel after its on, but im pretty sure it wont perform near as well.

Look around on civic forums, ive seen a few with air ride and you could probably find some notes as to how they handle and feel.

Happy car hunting!
