Based on your criteria, I can't believe no one has recommended the Goodyear F1 GSD3. Incredible wet traction (unbelievable is actually more accurate), dry traction is excellent (tough to get to squeal let alone break loose), they are quiet, and mine are wearing much better than expected.

My last tires were Toyo T1S and the Goodyears are better in every category than the Toyos. I think the grip levels are similar (slight edge to the F1's), but the F1's are wearing much better than the Toyos and they are noticeably quieter too.

The F1's respond very well to PSI adjustments so you can find your perfect mix of grip and response. The only downside is the price, but you get what you paid for with these.

You sold me Rhythmic. I was on the Bridgestone-Goodyear fence (I did somewhat mention them ;)

I think you'll be happy, and I'm not normally a big Goodyear fan buy they got it right with these. I remember Polak saying that he can almost keep up with guys on R-comps on the track with these.

You gonna go 245/40 on stock rims? Thats what I'd recommend. Check tirerack, they had this size on sale recently.

No fitment issues with 245/40.

I chose to go with 225/45 (stock) to maintain maximum responsiveness.

I have these and will not buy them again. They are good in the wet but not the cold and the side wall flex too much. They do not grip near as well as the original Bridgestone's and they are just as loud. I have around 8k miles on them and they look good so they wear well.

I was looking at his list and not seeing anything about cold weather or winter driving so i figured that summer tires were what was wanted.

I HAVE heard that those things are pretty loud and they look like they would be based on the tread pattern. I do know a few people that have had them and they didn't say anything about the sidewalls being too flexible. What kind of pressures are you running?

Any well/steering obstruction problems with 245/40 on the front?

32 PSI now but have tried a higher PSI with not much better results.

hmmm, when I need to replace my tires I might try out the SPT's.

No problems with 245/40 on the front on stock rims.
