How to remove pads from the calipers?

I'm sorry to ask so simple a question. But I'm in the middle of my first ever rotor & pad replacement and have hit this snag. I'm following Robin Yang's explanation and have gotten to the point where I have unbolted the caliper and replaced the rotor.

But I can't figure out how to remove/replace the pads.

There are a series of clips around the outside of the pads but I can't figure how to undo them (if I need to) and I'm afraid to break something. Is there some trick?

Any suggestions?

TIA.

You can just tap the old ones out with a hammer or some other blunt item. Your not going to break anything. The clips are not held in with anything so they could fall out once the pad is removed. Just make note which clip goes were.

Slide a scre driver between the pad and piston or better yet just push the clip back.

Check the DIY section.

Thanks! Tapping them with a hammer somewhat gently seems to have done the trick. Hopefully, I didn't mess anything up. Next step: figure out how to compress the piston.

Dude... read the DIY's

Open Master Cylinder cap so pressure is relieved.

Use a C lamp.

REars are turned in.
